Briar Moss from the books by Tamora Pierce, timewise specifically after The Will of the Empress. Anything anyone has to say would be helpful, though I definitely do have questions on:
a) how to fake renaissance medical/plant knowledge (ex. I honestly have no idea what the heck willow bark tea is/does despite the fact it gets mentioned all the time like it's advil, same for the less mentioned stuff)
b) how to go about the flirting he apparently does so much of and
c) who would make a good PB for him (actor, model, random anime character, I'm not picky, I just don't know enough people/characters in general to know a good one myself)?

I would advise you not to use a random-anime-character PB, but that's really just a pet peeve of mine. There are various comms/sites with icon sets of possible PBs organized by gender/age/ethnicity/hair color, though; besides the one the above anon mentioned, there's also Hollow Art... and lots more that I can never remember.

There are a lot of books out there on herbal remedies (ranging from dubious New-Agey stuff to a volume of the Physician's Desk Reference); none of that is going to line up exactly with Renaissance knowledge/methods, probably, but it should give you somewhere to start. If, unlike me, you are not crazy enough to buy books (or get them from the library and take notes) just so that you can be better at internet pretendy funtimes, there are probably websites that do the same thing (though they are more likely to be dubiously New-Agey). Find one that seems somewhat reputable, bookmark it, and open it up whenever the need arises. Of course, it helps to read over it a few times and try to familiarize yourself with the ( ... )

a. Google.
b. Make sure he stays respectful. Yes, he's a flirt, and yes, he does have some serious PTSD behind his desire to have someone in his arms every night, but he's always sure to try never to ask more of a girl than she wants to give and never to do anything he'll feel bad about later. I mean, for the sake of plot/character development, of course you could have him slip up, and of course in an RP he's not always going to be successful in his efforts; but he does try to be a gentleman.
c. See helpful anon above. :D
