Phyllo: see if you can find Nigella Lawson's How to be a Domestic Goddess. There's a recipe in there for zucchini and chickpea pie that's essentially a zucchini risotto with chickpeas in a phyllo crust. I make it as just the risotto but it's delish either way. Plus, it's easily veganized, ifn you were so inclined.

rainy days scream "loaf".

For some reason, this is striking me as the funniest thing I've read all day. Loaf. Hee.

You guys get monday off too? For some reason I didn't think you did.

I get a strong Bridget Jones vibe from your post. I am loving it.

loaf is such an abrupt sort of word. LOAF. BALLS. HOT. it's all the same and, conveniently, very funny to say.

and that is because i wish i was bridget! also because i write without using "i". am very lazy when it comes to that.

Thanks for the warning.

I'm thinking though, if my brother can get a dog, why can't I?
So I might. And then since he won't ever be going anywhere since he'll be stuck at home with a kid, I will just ask him to watch my dog for me.

if you really want a bull dog, or any dog for that matter, i say go for it! it would be such great companionship (not that cats aren't, but there is just something about dogs) plus it would help with getting out for walks more (dogs don't really leave that decision up to you, do they) and staying active. and i think bull dogs are especially appealing to men, so having one may attract some male attraction. that wouldn't be so horrible, i wouldn't think.

But....

There's training, chewing, picking up hot dog shit, not having a yard I can leave the dog out in for a while, bathing it, feeding it, being home precisely at 6pm to let it out so it can poop, not being able to take off on a whim for the weekend, vet bills....

need I go on? :)

i forgot about the hot shit. hot shit is about 20 times worse than air temperature shit. and you know the warmth is just transported through the baggy.

nasty.

your post made me jealous. my labor day weekend is going to be intensely laborious (what with packing and moving heavy pieces of ugly furniture that I hate and wish jon would get rid of but he never will... not that I have grudges against inanimate objects or anything!).

I absolutely cannot wait for pictures of BUBBA!!!

I look back and forth between the telephone and computer clock too. They're only 1 minute apart though, so no huge advantage over one or the other like you :)

However I usually go by the buzzer in the production areas, that I can hear very faintly and always buzzes a minute or so earlier than either clock, which totally works for me.

i am in the (very bad) habit of leaving work at 4:50 p.m. but i come in at 8:45 a.m., so they can't really say anything. well they could, but would i listen?

and i got your emails about october 1st! that weekend wouldn't have worked for me either, but it was exciting while it lasted! :)
