If it weren't for the circumstances, Hood thinks he might actually like this oasis. It's kind of beautiful, though too hot in the day and too cold at night and pervasively sandy; but those problems are easy enough to address.
He's not thinking of his conversation with Cordy. Not thinking of the dragon, or the sleeping elves and demons, or what will happen when they wake up.
Consequently, he's also not thinking about where he's going, and doesn't notice the man lying on the rock until he's awkwardly close.
"I'm sorry," he says, surprised. "I didn't see you there. I didn't mean to intrude."
Guy's eyes blink open, and a brief, disoriented look passes over his face. He glances up to Hood. And considers his next course of action.
Eh. Oh well. He's dry enough anyhow.
He raises an eyebrow at Hood, indicating, with the spin of his hand, that Hood should turn around. So Guy can get some clothes on. He doesn't seem too terribly embarrassed by this.
The name is familiar, but it actually takes Guy a few moments to recognize it. From the journal, right. The evening that he got here.
He taps Hood's shoulder, the shirt pulled halfway over his head. Settles the clothing back into place, as he reaches up on a rock for his journal. It doesn't take long to leaf through and find the entry where he and Hood had briefly conversed.
Oki had needed to bathe...urgently. So, with a lot of reluctance, he left his self-imposed post in the Rowans' cave to do so. When he reaches the pool, it's easy enough to notice it's occupied, somewhat. Guy was dressed and didn't seem about to bathe so it was easy to guess he had probably done so...that and Oki's nose said so.
Walking up, Oki politely inclined his head to Guy before turning slightly to remove his clothing. "I assume you had the same idea sooner?" he asked, looking over his shoulder to see his answer.
Guy gave him a nod. Yes, he had -- and he pointed a finger over his shoulder, indicating that if Oki wanted him to leave, he could easily find somewhere else to. Well. To take a brief break from the endless tasks that had occupied him since he got here.
"We're both men so it matters not," Oki answered, finishing undressing. It was so much quicker since these were lighter clothes than he was used to. "You can stay or you can go." Guy didn't seem to relax much, so he really didn't want him to feel obligated to leave.
Slipping into the pool, he ducked his head underwater to clean the mane that was his hair.
Guy sat back against the rock face, one knee drawn up towards his chest. He had a little shade, here. Was already starting to get sweaty, again, but at least he wouldn't be sunburned.
He picked through a few of the rocks next to him, and found one more or less smooth. Taking care to avoid the part of the pool where Oki was, he threw it, skipping it once, twice on the surface of the water.
Temeraire had spent a while trying unsuccessfully to fly out of the desert and was still a little bruised from from having broken out of the ground the day before. So he managed to settle down against the side of the largest cliff, where if he raised his head he could get a pretty good view of everything.
His sensitive ears picked up the noise of human activity nearby, so he stretched out his neck and poked his head out over a copse of trees, with no regard for how whoever it was would feel about the sudden appearance of a looming dragon head or the invasion of their privacy.
His eyes were mostly closed, and Temeraire didn't make any overt noise. So it wasn't until a few seconds later, when his eyes blinked open, and he focused on the dragon head above him -- as opposed to the sky above that -- that he slowly realized there was something there.
Guy jerked, full-body, startled as all hell, both hands smacking down on the rock next to him, ready to push him up so he could get out of here.
And then he paused.
And gave Temeraire a little bit of a hesitant wave. Hi?
Temeraire hadn't meant to interrupt the man's nap. He also hadn't meant to startle him so badly, and was worried that the man would run away. However, he appeared to recover himself, and the wave he gave Temeraire was one of the friendlier greetings the dragon had received lately.
"Hello. I'm Temeraire. I just arrived yesterday," he said, as if that hadn't been obvious to most people nearby.
Yeah, Guy had certainly felt that particular explosion of earth.
Guy stood up, craning his neck a little to get a good look at the dragon. Unafraid, in a way that suggested that he'd sort of forgotten how to be aware of physical danger. Now that his brief startle was over, he was more curious than anything else.
Amazing, Temeraire was amazing. Was it 'he'? The voice sounded masculine.
Guy tapped his own throat, and shrugged, hoping that the dragon would understand. Guy didn't speak. He understood, but he didn't speak.

Strange though, that he didn't say anything.
"I'm Jacob Hood," he introduces himself, back still turned. "I don't believe we've met."

He taps the page, there, for Hood to see.

It was nice, just to rest.
He'd probably get bored with it soon enough.

Twice.
He could do better than that.
