"Some sense of order would be nice." Not bloody likely, but nice. "I'm just used to more structure." Which was an incredible oversimplification. "And you... you're used to aliens, yeah?" Cedric still wasn't entirely sure what to make of that. It was almost easier to wrap his mind around entirely different worlds than it was to contemplate a world so like his own in almost every way, but just dissimilar enough to be wrong.
"Only for the last five years, but yeah. Very used to aliens. Had tea with one once. Lovely fellow, runs a souvenir shop by the castle. He never could quite get the accent right, but he just told everyone he was from Swansea." Ianto smiled pleasantly, then drained the remainder of his first lager and set the glass aside. "I'm still interested in that overview, if you wouldn't mind. The closest we've got is people who'll pull a coin out of your ear and then a few more out of your pocket while they have you distracted."
Cedric chuckled. Not exactly magic. "What I could do at home or what I can do here?" He wasn't entirely certain what it was Ianto was asking for. His whole life story? Honestly, he was more interested in the souvenir shop owning alien, but Ianto had bought him a drink, and obviously there was something he wanted in return. Information, which was fine, but some specific questions would make it easier.
Oh. Right. Cedric wouldn't remember every word of a journal conversation they'd had six months ago, would he? "Home. You had people both with and without magical ability, right?" Just like his world had people both with and without the knowledge of alien life and visitation. Or had had, rather. Anyone who didn't have his head completely buried in the sand knew by the time Ianto had left.
"Yes. Two completely separate societies, really. Wizarding world and Muggle world." Now that they were discussing it again, Cedric was beginning to remember a conversation in journals in a very vague and general way. It seemed like lifetimes ago. "Persecution being the default response to what the general population doesn't understand, it's just safer that way."
