"Best I can tell, I seem to be moving twice as quickly." And so was Jack (a quick check, still there) now that they were stuck together. At least he actually had time to do the amount of work that being an ambassador required now. "You?" Not actually what he wanted to talk to Cedric about, but interesting nonetheless. Ianto had been collecting data on people's experiences whenever he got the chance. He didn't actually expect it would help, but it couldn't hurt either.
"I'm moving with no rhyme or reason, as far as I can tell. Some days seem to last forever, some are gone in a few hours. That's just assuming time moves on steadily while I sleep. I'm almost afraid to at times." He would be more frightened if he had any relationships he'd regret losing. If things kept up like this, he'd probably leave to try and find Robbie. He and Priya were the only ones Cedric would truly lament losing if something happened.
Ianto was afraid to sleep too, but for different reasons. Jack didn't sleep as long as he did, when he slept at all, and he'd shown no evidence of possessing the same obsessive need to stay in the same timeline. All Jack had to do was step out of the room for a second--
But he hadn't. Yet.
"This isn't a type of magic you've encountered before, then?" There, that was a much better topic for contemplation, and moving closer to what Ianto had actually wanted to talk to Cedric about.
Cedric shook his head, and then gave the waitress a tight smile when she set his glass down in front of him. He took a sip. Lager. Right, then. "Nothing as undisciplined as this." There were timeturners, but they were controlled and, more importantly, voluntary. "Magic isn't supposed to work this way. It's just... wrong."
Ianto offered the waitress a friendlier smile and got winked at for his trouble. He really ought to have come here about seven years earlier, before he completely lost his head and started falling in love with people. Speaking of which -- okay, still there, back to Cedric. "How is magic supposed to work?" It sounded as if they actually had widespread training on Cedric's world. Wouldn't that be nice.
