[Chie is busily getting the table setup finished, dumping one last bag of chips into a plastic bowl.]

Whew... I think we're ready!

[ Taking a break from the kitchen and while whipping his washed hands on the hands on his apron, he decides to check up on Chie. ]

Thanks, Souji-kun! You know where our guests of honor are right now?

Probably by the sofas or upstairs. They should come sooner or later. [ Or Souji will drag them here. ]

Got gifts for them?

[Yosuke is sitting on one of the sofas - he's kind of excited. Happy to be back at "home," happy that Souji's there along with his other friends, and happy it's his birthday! Buuuut, he's also still completely exhausted from three weeks of getting very little sleep. And having his soul sucked out of him.]

[So he's pretty much just hanging out with a plate of little snacks while he musters up the energy to get up and do something productive. Will you approach him? Will he nap on you? Who knows!]

[ Souji has finished baking most of the things in the kitchen, so he's out here in the living room. He still has his apron on though since he'll still have to head back in later, but for now, he walks up to Yosuke. ]

[ Standing in front of him, he holds out a neatly wrapped rectangular gift. ]

Happy birthday, Yosuke.

[Seeing the box in Souji's hand, there's a look of surprise on Yosuke's face. Real, genuine surprise that probably looks ridiculous with those dark circles under his eyes.]

You... when did you have time to even....?

Picked it up the other day when you were asleep. [ Continues to hold out the gift, lifting it slightly as to tell Yosuke to take it already. ]

[ Guess who is working in that kitchen, making sure that all the little treats are well baked and done? Hint: his name starts with "S" and ends in "eriously trying his best to make this look like the best goddamn cake Souji Seta". ]

[ While he has told people to stay clear of the kitchen, that smell of baked cupcakes and all is much too good to ignore. Come in and see how it's going? Help him out? Sneak a bite? Just bother the boy and make sure he doesn't go face-first onto the cake from falling asleep. ]

You're supposed to be resting. [There's no heat in Merlin's words, however, as he leans against the kitchen counter.]

[ Souji continues to beat the butter in his bowl to make a new batch of cupcakes. ]

It's a birthday party. I'm not going to rest for something as important as this.

You realise none of us are going to be happy if you manage to exhaust yourself over a party. [He straightens, pulling some of the cookie cutters toward him curiously.] Especially when you haven't fully recovered from the Ice Path.

[Anyone curious enough to go looking for Merlin will find him sprawled on his bed in the Centre, holding up a small, metal Dragonair figurine to the light. His fingertips trace over the tiny details in the model. If he closes his eyes and ignores the feeling of metal where wood should be, he can pretend for a moment he's holding another, more familiar dragon figurine.]

Draca, [He whispers, imagining the figurine coming to life, though he knows it won't. Not in Johto.]

[ Alright, Souji might have been in the kitchen most of the time to prepare snacks, but he hasn't seen Merlin at all. Therefore, either he's out, upstairs, or likes playing hide-and-seek somewhere, but Souji will rather take his chances by checking Merlin's bedroom first. ]

[ He climbs the stairs, wiping his washed hands on his apron and makes his way to the right bedroom. Instead of trying the doorknob or entering, he knocks on the door twice. ]

Merlin?

[Startled, Merlin quickly shoves the figurine under his pillow before sitting up. He doesn't notice his abrupt movements making the figurine slip out.]

I'm in here. [He runs his hand through his hair, letting his feet drop back onto the floor when he recognises Souji's voice through the door.]

[ At this, Souji opens the door just a bit. He doesn't step inside though, waiting for Merlin's permission to do so. ]

Feeling alright?

[ Rise currently has a Clefairy attached to her who won't let her be, but she's most definitely around. Hanging out near the table, cheerily tired and letting Tira sample the chips. ]

[sauntering on over... casually. teddie's surprisingly got some energy left from all that, and he can't just leave rise alone like that.]

Rise-chan! The chips are really good!

Yeah, I know! I got a few in before Tira decided they were her new favorite thing.
