Todays meagre offerings...

Me tired. Me been doing crappy sketches. Me been doing mainstream landscapes in pastels. Me bought a shiny box of expensive pastels to try out and think I'm in love (is it wrong to be in love with chalk?).

And also I've been having issues about signing/not signing pastels - anyone have a clue? I don't want to spoil a picture with my name at the ( Read more... )

LOL. That would require effort. Paint shop was cheaper *grin*.

Thank you! Not as spicy as usual...will need to intersperse the bland scenery with some porn life art *grin*.

Very Nice my dear. And as for signing the pastels; sign the back. I think artists should always sign their work, but on the back is a good option when you don't want your signature darkening a corner.

Signing the back - hadn't thought of that! That would be much better than spoiling the front. Thank you, sweetie.

Ta, luv! Of course I'd try your adorable wee dog - just bear in mind it might be an awful picture *grin*. Do you want me to have a go with the pic you showed me the other day, or do you have another pic you'd like done?

Would you do the one I showed you? I really like that one. I could send you a bigger version if it would help (I made it smaller in the post so it didn't take up ur whole journal!!!)

Thanks so much for this!!!

Edit: If that pic isn't a good one to sketch tho, I could find/take another!

The one you put in here is fine. I've printed it off and it seems clear enough (and it is very cute!). I'll have a go this week...

And thank YOU for letting me practise :)

Edited because clearly I can't type properly!

Wow these are just great as usual.

Pastels are such a difficult medium to use but you've done a fantastic job with these. (How come you haven't made a mess like wot I wud?)

Do you seal them with a fixing spray?

I especially love the last two (the final one reminds me of the back ground of 'The Scream').

Love the sketches as well.

Meagre selection or not (and of course that's only your opinion), but a good one nonetheless. It's good to see different stuff.

It's like roaming at leisure (for free) round an art gallery *grin*

Ya know, it's weird. I keep on trying out arty things that folk then tell me are hard...like portraits and now pastels (you aren't the only one to say it). I didn't like them when I first tried them, but once I'd done that picture of my dad's dog, I fell in love - they work better for me than watercolour and acrylic - and I know that it's because if you screw up they are a lot easier to fix lol.

I just found out about the fixing spray and bought my first can the other day. Not using a workable fixative yet, just a final one. I haven't sprayed these ones yet because I wasn't sure if I was gonna sign them or not, but I've sprayed the Alsation picture I did last week so it can go to it's new home.

Ye Gods, an art gallery of my stuff *shudders* - now that is a bit of a scary thought ;op
