Sunday Artz

Apr 16, 2017 12:11

So, this week another pet portrait done whilst keeping my head down at the art club. Was a bit shocked to be asked by a husband (picking up his wife) if I would do a commission of their dog. Never expected to get that at a group where everyone draws/paints/whatever. Very flattered!

Half tempted to take half done fanart portraits in with me next week ( Read more... )

Go you for getting a commission. The spaniel is very cute and the cartoons are fun.

Ta, Sue. Think Bodie and Doyle would be hilarious in the same style...imagine Doyle's curls! Ooh, could illustrate Squeak now. *wanders off to find a pen*

The spaniel is fab!

And I love the cartoon.

I go to art classes when I'm here in France, and it's a lot of fun. My problem is thinking of things I would like to try. I did a few cave paintings in paster and watercolour which I enjoyed, but I feel I need to get more adventurous. I also just need to play around, but I;m not very good at that. I always seem to aim for a finished product, which is not really the way you learn.

Do the one hour thing...obv worked for me. I'm a butterfly when it comes to art - part of why I don't like watercolours - I want a fast result and have absolutely no patience at all. If I didn't get some sort of result quickly then I suspect I wouldn't bother. In awe of these artists that take months to finish a piece.

I think the idea is to find your own style. Finding the 'club' attitude a bit different to mine, they all sit with art books and copy the pictures out of them. 'spose, though, that lessons of a sort. Not that I haven't got books, watched DVDs, etc. just tend to go to them for pointers rather than straight out copying. I get disappointed if I don't have an end result that I'm happy to show people so I'm probably like you.

BTW, was thinking about you earlier 'cause I just found all these Schofield/Knight fics over on AO3. You threatened one of them, once lol. Have had to force myself to read a few *grin*. The was positively gleeful to find some Dirk Pitt, too. Yay for randomn fic.

Oooh, I must go looking for them! Are they tagged just that? It's a while since I read any, so I;d have a hard job now without some re-reading, but that would be rather fun.

Your art is full of character and humour! And what a lovely compliment from that man.

Lol that's an equally lovely compliment. Maybe I have a new career in retro 70s chibi art! As I said to Sue *points up the comments* the Pros boys would be hilarious done in that style. Doyle's curls, Bodie's eyebrows, Cowley's quiff.
