So, this week another pet portrait done whilst keeping my head down at the art club. Was a bit shocked to be asked by a husband (picking up his wife) if I would do a commission of their dog. Never expected to get that at a group where everyone draws/paints/whatever. Very flattered!
Half tempted to take half done fanart portraits in with me next week but I think I couldn't handle the questions since your work gets scrutinised to the nth degree by everyone. Some lovely artists go but they are mostly of the traditional watercolour landscape style - books get passed around and discussed. I'm a bit of an oddity (nowt new there then) and that's without me wandering in with any sordid sketches. Ooh, the thought of their faces! Think they have decided I only do animal art lol. Again, friend got lots of 'pointers' this week, but I was glad when she actually got annoyed with the advice and stuck up for her own talent. She is a skilled pencil artist and does incredibly delicate watercolours. I must exude a 'don't you dare tell me how you would do it better' vibe or summat *gathers cape of fuckoffness around me*.
Waffle over, on with the art...
A friend's spaniel - he has two and I've still got to do the other one. 'Tis a surprise present.
Not entirely happy with it but it's okay. Inspired a commission anyhoo. For some reason the colours aren't coming across right on the screen. Grr. The background is actually cream and the colours are more vivid. If I take a photo of the art on it's own it is even worse! The background then looks solid grey. *throws pencil at 'puter*.
And I went off last night with the intention of having a try at cartoon bodies - proper cartoon/illustrative style - and got sidetracked by manga chibis. Forgot I used to doodle these things. Then, of, course, I had to do a couple of illustrations from the latest Primeval drabbles wot I wrote. 70s British seaside postcards spring to mind! Ooh er missus!
