There. Finally. The boy was relaxing, calm, almost smiling. It was sort of sad, to be honest-- from the files, Hisoka had never been happy in his life. It made Service wonder if he wouldn't do well on massive amounts of Prozac, or another SSRI. Or maybe just put him on a constant MDMA infusion ( ... )

"None of you were ever nurses," Hisoka protested, looking up at Service. He would have said more, but the petting briefly robbed him of the ability to speak -- it felt divine, and he dropped his head and leaned into it yearningly. He nearly mewled when Service stopped, but he took a deep breath, and began obediently to speak ( ... )

Service waited, resting his chin on the back of one elegant hand, listening to the stream of speech with the same calm intensity he listened to everything possibly important and searched for bits to pick out and use. Another click of the hidden remote, and the intercom was turned off. "I believe they've gotten it fixed, yes." Service idly combed his fingers through Hisoka's hair and wondered when the boy was going to get over the clingy stage. Thinking of him as an overly affectionate puppy helped. That he was having his personal space invaded, though, was getting a bit on his nerves.

Not that he'd let the boy see that.

"You've had memory issues in the past. It's why we're working so closely with you. It was such a horrible thing, your friend's death, and putting it in a place that is full of pain is easier than thinking it could happen here, where things are safe." His voice held a note of sympathy, too soft to be anything but genuine. The petting paused for a moment, before he began again.

"People are hurting themselves, and going to get hurt, if they keep speaking of this other place. You need to keep that in mind."
