► Goddammit! Post I just stumbled onto from July on Cliff Rathburn's blog. The electro-magnetic free floating hand just seems an awful lot like my character Lady Ace (who I created last year), Read more... )

MalcolmD says: I believe that I've seen characters with hands attached to their bodies via electrical arms before, but I'm afraid that I don't recall where. Don't worry, it's still a striking visual, and you can still make your character THE girl with the electromagnetic arm by putting her in compelling stories or images.

I'm curious as to your source for the origin of the term India--that seems like an important historical clarification. However, my understanding has been that he was searching not for India, but for the Indies islands, now called the East Indies.

A friend pointed out to me that I forgot that Persia was modern day Iran. Whoops.

Recently I read that the idea that Columbus traveled to prove the Earth was round and not flat is a fallacy. That scholars had believed the Earth to be round since the time of Copernicus. But that they believed the Earth to be larger, and the far side to be nothing but an uncrossably vast ocean with no land. Supposedly Columbus wanted to prove that it could be done. But who knows. History seems to change the reasons every few years.

Yeah, I suppose it'd be fine for me to keep my own electromagnetic fist gal. Although I'm shamed to see the robotics done infinitely better in his drawing. I suck at that.
