I am totally behind the study of the classics in school. Learning Latin & Greek helps with the building of general vocab. I'm also strongly behind the study of mythology & older plays like those of Shakespeare, the Odyssey, etc. as they teaches life lessons.

Now I read it again, I see what you mean. And I agree entirely that poking fun at the other side of the academic spectrum is unnecessary and not a good thing. As an artsy type who knows a lot of people in science subjects, I've been on the receiving end of that quite a lot (not just the gentle ribbing, which I can handle, but often an implied assumption that because I'm not a scientist my thought processes are in some sense less rational or logical ( ... )
