She Is As The Factory Made Her, Sir.

Someday, I will stop using quotes from the Bender the Offender episode of Futurama. Today is not that day because it still amuses me to no end.

So things that I have been watching that I inexplicably enjoy:

  • Person of Interest - I really thought I wouldn't like it because I find that Jim Caviezel is the actorly equivalent of beige and tends to put ( Read more... )
  • dorkstar, (un)biased tv show reviews, oh my life!, (un)biased movie reviews

Ahahaha! That's because you have fourteen billion shows that you're watching already, so I totally understand why you didn't pursue the show. I wasn't even expecting to like it enough to keep watching it, but it's determined to prove me wrong.

I can't wait to see how the first day is going to go! :D

I don't actually hate the daughter in American Horror Story, but I don't like her either. And while I thought I would like the main, female character, I REALLY don't. I think I watch out of some curiosity over how many people died in that house, and just how many ways they were killed.

The Thing may be my favorite horror movie ever; I know it's in the top three. Because of that, I was reluctant to see the new one, but if you like it, I will give it a try.

Oh, God, I really wanted to like the mom, but I really don't. Although I do feel more sympathy for her than I do for the rest of the family, with the exception of the maid, who I do feel genuinely sorry for since she didn't deserve being stuck in that house for all eternity. But I love the backstories of the house and how they're introduced, and I really love the ghosts and how they're brought into the family's lives. I think those things are what's keeping me watching.

Well, the prequel has some flaws that can't be helped, like the CGI that doesn't live up to the awesomeness of the puppeteering in the original and the claustrophobic paranoia isn't as high as I think it should be, but overall, I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of the original without actually copying the original, and the ending is as wonderfully ambiguous as the original, and I think that's the best way to do it.

But I would be interested in hearing what you think of it. I seem to be much easier to please than movie critics, judging from the reviews I've read.

Also, AMC is showing all horror movies from now until Halloween, and I am so glad I have two days off because I will be watching every single one of them. :D

I'm yet another person in your life who has never actually seen The Thing. I'd watch it with you, as long as you promise to tell me when to cover my eyes (the dogs, mainly).

And I do understand why you like American Horror Story! It's rare that a story can have all unlikable characters but still be compelling, so I don't blame you for liking it.

It's so baffling that I dislike all the characters, but still like the show. Why must you confuse me, TV?!

I think Person of Interest is my favorite new show. I love the cautious trust that is developing between Reese and Finch. They remind me of Batman but Alfred is the Billionaire. I love how serious Reese is but at the same time has a sense of humor especially with his pet cop.

I love Taraji too and hope she can become part of the insider knowledge team.

I love that Reese has a sense of humor! I was afraid he'd be the usual boring stoic character with silent manpain and a skill with guns, but he's more playful and easygoing with Finch, which I love.

I adore Carter. I love that she gets to be smart and competent and tenacious. I love the cat-and-mouse game that she and Reese have going on too.

I've been watching American Horror Story, too, and I just...that bondage suit. When he came in and got on the wife, I had a cow, haha. I wonder what his story is. And what the hell is that thing in the basement? I kept seeing in it the shadows when I was trying to go to sleep that night.

I'm entertained by Tate (he's so unrepentantly screwed up) and his relationship with Lange's character, and I agree that Lange is great as the neighbor. I feel bad for the maid, too, especially after seeing how she died (damnnnn!) and Lange's daughter. But everyone else is eye-rolling, and I think the way the show is structured/stylized makes it kind of hard to settle in and get used to anything or anyone before something else is happening.

Haha, I never thought about rooting for the house, but I'm love that.

I am sure the bondage suit is from the last owners from the current family, which makes me wonder if Quinto's going to be in that suit. I will probably lose it if he is. It's be horrifyingly hilarious ( ... )

Somehow it's hard for me to divorce him from Spock, so the idea of Spock being into BDSM is pretty fantastic (sure people have written it too, haha.) It's always the quiet ones~

    I think I like it for the fast pace/style, too, and that, like you said, it's kind of a mini-horror film every week. I just want to like all the characters as much. Come on, guys. ;_;

I've never seen that all the way through, but I should get on that, since it's a classic! Have you ever seen Monster House? I just got reminded of it reading your comment, and how the house in that is alive and has ~feelings.
