Now that I know Tate is a part of the house's weirdness, I dislike him less, but so far, the only one I really enjoy watching is Lange's psychotic Southern belle. She's hilarious (the cupcake creation scene was so ridiculous and amazing and exactly why I like this show) and she's clearly having a total blast hamming it up for the screen. I love that.
And yes, the way the show is set up is very much like a mini-horror movie every week, so there's no real rhythm to the thing that you can get used to. It might be why I like it so much. It feels like a short horror movie every week, which seems really cool to me, and again, the visuals are a really great mix of over-the-top and genuinely freaky. It seems to be a show that really enjoys how ridiculous it is while trying its best to scare you, and I am enjoying the effort.
Oh, I always root for the house. Poltergeist imprinted on me at a young age, so I always tend to be on side of the haunted property. :D

I've never seen that all the way through, but I should get on that, since it's a classic! Have you ever seen Monster House? I just got reminded of it reading your comment, and how the house in that is alive and has ~feelings.
