She Is As The Factory Made Her, Sir.

Someday, I will stop using quotes from the Bender the Offender episode of Futurama. Today is not that day because it still amuses me to no end.

So things that I have been watching that I inexplicably enjoy:

  • Person of Interest - I really thought I wouldn't like it because I find that Jim Caviezel is the actorly equivalent of beige and tends to put ( Read more... )
  • dorkstar, (un)biased tv show reviews, oh my life!, (un)biased movie reviews

DAMN THIS SHOW. I went looking for fic and all of it is pre-slash, which is not a fucking thing, goddammit! Anyway, nothing yet, but if I find any, I will post the links here.

I pretty much hated everybody when I watched the pilot of AHS, too. I unabashedly love Glee -- it and White Collar are my primary happy places at this point -- but I already spent several seasons on Murphy's Nip/Tuck despite disliking most of its characters before I eventually gave up on that show. The maid on AHS and her backstory with Lange's character vaguely interested me, I often like Dylan McDermott's work, I was trying to care about the wife and to enjoy the daughter's performance as much as I like that actress' sister's work, and it just wasn't happening. (That said, I'm still tempted to tune in again purely for Quinto's scenes.) It's just as well, really, because not only do I already have enough shows to watch, I also am a wuss and don't handle horror very well. I can't even watch The Vampire Diaries right before bed; I have to watch it earlier and watch/read/do other things afterward to give the bloody images time to get out of my head.

Ohhh, the maid is the whole reason I kept watching long after the family annoyed the crap out of me. Her story is genuinely tragic, and I love how her appearance changes depending on who's looking at her. Also, I love how antagonistic she and Lange's characters are. I swear I could watch an entire show about them bickering and taking swipes at each other.

I'm actually surprised by how well I'm handling the horror aspects of the show considering how genuinely freaky the visuals are. It honestly plays out like a horror movie, the kind that actually scares me, which is rare for a TV show, but I'm enjoying it thoroughly.

I am cautiously excited! I am not sure if this show can sustain this level of ridiculous-fun horror, but I am willing to give it a chance.

I should get more into television but it's been a crazy month. American Horror Story looks interesting but I kinda hate Ryan Murphy. And yay for moving in! ♥

( Fanmix? I could always use more music )

I can never get enough Futurama quotes. Ever. Especially Bender. Who is amazing.

I find Ryan Murphy to be a shitty media personality, but the show is really decent so far. I just ignore his name in the credits and enjoy the show in all its ridiculousness.
