Time off and bike changes

Feb 25, 2008 11:41

Time with my family did me some good. I was originally worried it was going to suck my weekend away at a time when I really need the free days to work. Things move slower when I'm around my family on the weekend, though, and I ended up getting tons of research work completed. It was also relaxing to be in St. Petersburg again. Do you not have ANOTHER bike shop to go to? If you want to have clip in pedals and still be able to have some 'play', why not go with something like an SPD SL pedal instead? Or Speedplay?

Glad you got a new saddle. Does it have a break away in it, that would help alleviate numbness? Those Bongtrager Saddles suk on the FX.

There are other bike shops, but they're much further away. Not only am I trying to be "car free", but my current bike shop...which is very nice and has at least one pretty bright guy (I think he's the manager)...is about two blocks from where I work, making bike repair and upgrades an errand rather than a quest ( ... )

Break away, yes, there's a channel cut in the center. Is your saddle parallel to the floor or ever so slightly tilted down? Channels DO tend to help a lot of people.

A pro fit would be nice with the SPD's.

Hmmm...your bike shop...ugh! I wish you could come over to ours..but...lol...a bit too far away..heh!

NOT all franchises are bad!! I work in a franchise and I really believe that 2 of our 3 stores are fabulous for education, help and customer service.

I'm not too fond though of MOST bike shops. Only a few that I like in my area.

Anyhows, good luck! You'll LOVE cleats once you get used to them.

It seemed pretty parallel when it left the shop. After I moved it this morning, it appears to have acquired a bit of an up-tilt which I fully intend to fix. After my past experiences, I'd rather it tilt slightly down, I think. I really get tired of my pubic bone and..uh...boy bits getting mashed by the nose ( ... )
