For those of you who didn't find out from Facebook or from nancyblue's LJ, Pop Hale reached the end of his rope and passed away on Thanksgiving Day. His body simply had too many different traumas to fight, and he couldn't make it through. He passed away peacefully in the ICU ( Read more... )

Last night, we returned from a 10-day visit to nancyblue's family. Her father was going in for a dangerous surgery to replace his aorta. Things have been a bit off the hook lately. Thursday and Friday, nancyblue and I went to see and video a pair of performances by the amazingly talented Juliana Finch, each of which was a true delight. I'm getting a little closer to my goal of purchasing a new laptop. This is something I wouldn't be purchasing for mobility, as I think that, between my netbook and my PSP, I have plenty of mobility options, and I will still be getting my old lappy fixed in June. Time with my family did me some good. I was originally worried it was going to suck my weekend away at a time when I really need the free days to work. Things move slower when I'm around my family on the weekend, though, and I ended up getting tons of research work completed. It was also relaxing to be in St. Petersburg again. I returned to commuting by bicycle this week as my cough finally feels under control and I thus think my pulmonary system is up to being stressed again. It's amazing how much you can atrophy in just a week. My heart rate is much higher than I want it to be, and my power endurance is down. First off, though they'll likely never see this, I want to wish docufishy and iammarklar all the best in married life. They tied the knot last Sunday in a lovely Jewish ceremony, and it was so wonderful to see them and talk to them again.
