Percy had headed down to the canteen a few minutes early to find a seat away from his secretary's friends. He managed to eat out or in his office most days, and they practically descended on him when he made it to the canteen. Why, he wasn't sure. Perhaps Lillith had told them he was a good boss, or something.
Maybe Penny would be a buffer today, anyway. He had picked out a salad and found a seat in the corner. From there, he was able to spot her as she walked in and selected her food. When she stopped and looked around, he waved her over.
Penny spotted Percy sat in a corner and waved before going over to join him.
"Hi Percy," she said with a smile. "I'm good thanks. How are you?"
She sat down in the seat next to him and took a bite from her sandwich. She didn't know how Percy could eat salad so often. Penny made a mental note to take him out for something unhealthy and covered in cheese sometime soon.
"I'm doing well, thank you. It's good to finally catch up," he grinned, and took a sip of the mineral water he'd brought from home. He noticed his salad had come with a little cup of sunflower seeds, so he sprinkled them over the greens. Odd, but it probably tasted good.
"So, how are you adjusting to life at the Ministry? Enjoying your job?" he asked.
"It is good to see you," Penny agreed. "I can't believe I've worked here this long and we haven't had lunch together till now."
Penny watched as Percy sprinkled his salad with some sort of seed and stole one that was left in the cup, giving a cheeky grin as she did so.
"It's great, thanks. My fellow researcher, Kevin, seems really nice and it's just so great to have a job that uses my brain," Penny replied, taking another bite of her sandwich.
"How's things in your office? Everything running like clockwork?"
