Owl: Reaching out

Apr 22, 2008 12:50

Pansy read the owl through for the fifth time.  She had heard the mumblings around the Law Department regarding the trials, but hadn't known who people were talking about.

It was very real, suddenly.  No more putting off decisions until the trial, as the trial was upon her.  She would need to contact her siblings; maybe she could talk to McGonagall about Violet.  An Owl to her aunt would take care of Oren.  What happened, she wondered in slight panic, if her parents were somehow freed?  They would despise her, and she would be forced to either estrange herself from them, or beg for forgiveness.  She simply couldn’t fathom the latter choice, as it would set back everything she’d worked for.

Sitting in her room, she moved over to her desk and climbed underneath it.  Pulling her knees to her chest, she laid her head atop her legs and took a deep breath.  Things had been going so well.  Aside from her encounter with Finnigan over the weekend, she had been able to maintain peaceful discord with everyone around her.  People hadn’t forgiven her or accepted her with open arms, but she was starting to pull herself up and get somewhere.

She wished she had someone to talk to, but the only person who came to mind was Draco, and that wasn’t going to happen.   He had watched his father’s trial, and would likely have some form of advice, but she wasn’t going to approach him.  Not for this, or anything, really.  Maybe he would hear the news and extend a hand of compassion, but before she could ponder that further she realized it was more than very unlikely.  It was closer to impossible.

With one final moment of self pity behind her, she climbed up from under her desk and sat down on the chair.  Pulling out several sheets of parchment, she began to write.

Professor McGonagall,

I do not know if you have been informed, but my parents will stand trial on December 13th.  I am unsure how to extend this news to Violet, and wondered if you might provide some advice and assistance in the matter.

Sincerely,

Pansy Parkinson

Aunt Matilda,

I hope that all is well in your home, and that Oren has continued to behave.  I hope I can stop by to visit again sometime soon.

The date for my parent’s trial has been announced: December 13th at 11am.  I am not sure how to tell Oren about this, and hoped you could provide assistance.

I also wondered if perhaps both Violet and I could come and stay with you over Christmas.  I do not know how long we would be able to stay, but it might be nice to be together, if it is not a trouble to you.

Thank you for everything,

Pansy
