Life in the Time of Pollen

Apr 12, 2011 16:20

I actually worked today, and minus one small woozy moment, got through my 6 hour shift fine. I'm still sick, but I have Wed and Thursday off to finish the recovery. Of course, once the cold is gone, I still have the allergies to deal with, but at least I'll be stronger. I'm a horrible person when I'm sick. I refuse to admit I am sick, push myself ( Read more... )

jkjfd No! Take your time and heal, bb. Seriously, everybody is getting sick as of late. Michael over here just got over his cold-thing. It didn't get mixed up with allergies like yourself, but he's got asthma so nights have been terrible for him.

Dropkick Murphys sound awesome. Will be looking into these guys.

Ugh, I hope Michael gets better soon. Mixing asthma and cold-like-things never goes down well. I'm honestly almost better just still a little, "oh, the room's spinning" some times.

Dropkick are really pretty hardcore Irish-American Punk rockers. Some of their songs will burst your eardrums, but they are such down-to-earth, nice guys. They do weeks of shows in and around Boston during St. Patrick's Day, they keep their day jobs, one of their original members left to join the Boston Fire Department. They're just really cool, genuine, humble guys who pull an insane amount of energy out of their crowds. Honestly, I consider seeing one of their shows as part of the true Boston experience.

He's mostly all healed up, though the asthma'll be sticking around all winter, as it does. It's great to hear that you're on your way to getting fixed up, too. Those couple of days off'll do a world of good.

Def sounds like something I should check out if/when I visit the States. :D

Though, now that you've reminded me of your Runner/Chuckler fic, IT'S ALL I CAN THINK ABOUT. WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME

I don't mean to. Except when I do, and then I do it out of love. Here, I shall give you some Runner and Hoosier being bros ( ... )

/KJGKLJSKJK;JK I WISH YOU COULD SEE MY FACE. BECAUSE I CAN'T STOP GRINNING RIGHT NOW. I THINK, SHAN. I THINK ONCE YOU ACTUALLY HAVE YOUR FIC FINISH, I MIGHT JUST. WEEP. LOL. I'M SORRY I'M LIKE THIS.

Y'know, this might be the first instance of Runner and Hoosier bromance fic. I don't think I've written any of it myself, which is an outright crime. THANK YOU FOR SHOWING ME THE ERROR IN MY WAYS. There needs to be more Hoosier love, and by that, I mean more Hoosier and Runner, Hoosier and Chuckler fics because there's a shameful lack.

But anyway.

“You such a fucking pansy, wearing your boyfriend’s shirt around the house while he’s gone.”

“Hoosier, I got my fucking ribs tapped up by an overprotective intern because Lew called in five kinds of threats. I can’t fit into my own shirts right now. So, yeah, I’m going to lounge around in the house in his giant-sized clothing.”

“Because you never do this when he’s gone for weeks.”

“You can leave now, asshole,” he said.AW, LOOK AT HIM BEING OWNED HERE. If you heard a small bang or whatever ( ... )

Just so you know, I did watch that little scene several times last night. All while squashing down the need to write a related ficlet. I CAN'T. THERE'S TOO MUCH TO WRITE ALREADY

It's a scene that warms the heart in the middle of all the fighting. There is nothing wrong with a ficlet, Nat! They are tiny! You can do it, you can! I am not greedy at all. But, seriously, I wonder how there is no fic concerning that tiny little moment.

Oh man the Dropkick Murphys, I loved their music in the Departed, thanks for the link!

Hope you feel better, I'm so happy that there's not much pollen around here--your symptoms totally sound like how my family gets. Does not look fun at all. also forewarning I'm totally creeping/reading over your and Nat's convo, hi I'm your awkward friend

They are really such great guys. They're still local and come from Quincy, MA, which is where I lived for 4 years, so I respect them for staying there so much. (and for 'cool story bro' time, part of The Departed that was actually filmed in the Boston-area, took place at the Shipyard that belonged to the Auto Dealer I used to work for. It was a former WWII shipyard, so tons of old rotting buildings, but whenever I watch the movie I get all, awwww, b/c it's one of the few parts of Greater Boston in the film, for real.)

I am getting better, but pollen, ugh. CLT just has bad air quality.

And pssh. The comments are there to be read. It's all fic that will eventually be posted, sooner rather than later, but I hope you enjoy it. ;) It's kill-your-teeth domestic fluff.
