Nice list! For wax, i suggest talking to some farmers who sell honey. They just might have bees.

that's my thought-- I''m thinking of asking at the farmer's market next time I get there.

Mad props! That's AWESOME. Sounds super fun, too.

thanks :) it was fun, though would have been more fun with a crafting partner.

I'd love to be your crafting partner! After the new year, when I stop working gazillion hour weeks.

Although I totally cannot keep up with your mad crafting skilz.

I remember being taught how to use a sewing machine back in 7th grade home ec. Kinda wish that I still remembered how to use one, it would make my occasional patch jobs go a heck of a lot faster.

What type of composter do you have? I probably should get one, although I am kind of worried about attracting animals to my backyard come the spring.

I made my own composter using a:

- steel garbage can I bought at a hardware store (had to check a couple before I found a store that carried them),
- "punch" (kinda like this http://www.dickblick.com/products/blicks-metal-punch/ used to make an indentation so the drill would bite
-a power drill borrowed from a friend, and a 1/4 inch drill bit

Seeing as it's metal, I imagine animals might come by and sniff, but they do that anyway, and they can't get in.

You had home ec? that's kinda awesome, though I think I learned all that stuff in a more fun way at home. I think they're pretty easy to use, but then again I got lots of practice as a kid.

Hooray for fun projects!

My sewing machine's zig-zag only works well if I make sure to pull the fabric that's going through the machine extra taught horizontally. You might try that, if it's giving you trouble.

I've been making little felt dolls with wooden bead heads. It's less useful than the crafting you've been doing, but also super fun.

good to know, I'll try that next time I use zigzag. Also, I'll play with the tension knob.

felt dolls sound pretty useful if they add happiness to life.

can we do some crafting on New Years weekend?

Dolls are awsome I just made a few for the children in my life.

My major break plan is to make some sort of a hamsa (hand) mosic, wall hanging out of scrapes I also want to try to make journal using scrapes and paper. I made a pattern last night so well see where it goes.

To get my zigzag to work I either use the technique above or I use a small peice of an index card under the fabric but note that I usually make quilts so I'm dealing with large often heavy and lined fabric.

I just pulled my sewing machine out for break and id be up for joint craft projects if you like before jan 11th when classes start. Otherwise it lives in a storage unit in thestate house.
