Coming close to the easily agitated Deity was probably Kanda's first mistake. His second mistake was most definitely telling her what to do.
The only warning he got was the split second when her eyes shove open and then narrowed. Suddenly, Fou was sitting up and her clenched fist connected with his gut as she yelled. "JACKASS!" And it didn't end there. Her hair seemed to almost stand on end as she carried on. "You put me through that shit and cut me open -- twice -- and all you have to say is 'Don't push yourself'?!"
She opened her mouth to go on, only to double over with her arms around her sides as she began to hack up what was possibly a lung.
Alright, he deserved that punch. But what was it with today and everyone doing it? He should start charging.
He would've yelled at her had she not been right about it and was currently trying to breathe. Kanda stood still in place and waited for her to calm down. She deserved that one too- for moving and yelling when she wasn't supposed to.
"I had my reasons." was the only thing he could say. He wasn't in the mood for details- not did he want to give any.
The coughing finally subsided and she fell still with her cheek against her knees. Had his reasons, eh? She looked up at Kanda out of the corner of her eyes, but she didn't acknowledge his words.
Fou slowly sat back up straight again, yawning heavily and covering her mouth as she watched him through one eye that was cracked open.
She eyed him for a moment with a deep frown on her lips. "Everything in one ear and out the other, I guess, huh?" She stretched her arms high over her head with a wince. Her sides still ached, she was pretty sure there was still a nice set of cuts across her flesh, but better than it ad been.
Kanda is quiet. He's watching her watch him and is all he can do to not walk away from this situation. His hand cramps and he realizes too late that he's been holding onto Mugen with a white-knuckled grip.
He wanted to say so many things. He couldn't control himself, couldn't even remember in detail because he couldn't face Alma like he was back there. Couldn't explain anything because, just remembering the reason why he was the way he had been, made him angry. That was the only way he could react to it, because anything else would deem him weak.
He finally broke eye contact. "Tch. If you have the energy to waste your breath, then I'll take my leave."
Fou made a face at his words. She probably could have punched him again, but he was out of arms reach and he hadn't irritated her enough to make it worth the shooting pain in her side.
"You're still a brat, you know. Ten years later, or not." But maybe she just noticed more since she'd spent months chasing him around the island, keeping him out of trouble and beating him up for swearing at strangers with that dirty, foul mouth of his.
She had been no babysitter, and Fou would keep telling herself this, stubborn as an all get out. But, really, was she just supposed to let those brats go and get themselves killed?

...No, Fou knew it was more then that.
