She knew him from the journal. She'd seen his entry there, civil enough. She'd seen the responses to it. She'd seen that there'd been a whole lot she hadn't seen. So she'd marked him, like he'd trained her to do. Filed him away, kept him in mind. And now, wonder of wonders, convenience of conveniences, here he was.

I am Sylar, he'd said. A bold statement. She wasn't sure just what'd come attached to the name, and she hoped she wouldn't have to find out. Which wasn't to say she wouldn't.

So she'd followed. Quick and quiet, but casual and easy. Glance back and he'd see red hair, green glasses, not much attention being paid. Just a casual citizen, out for an evening stroll. Nothing to see here, keep moving, pay no mind.

Nevermind that she'd been back there the last five minutes.

Sylar almost felt sorry for the person tailing him. She had no idea who she were dealing with. He didn't know why she was following him, and he didn't much care. He just wanted her gone so he could walk about in peace and observe some people he might want to kill one day. He'd tried to give this stranger a chance by losing her down an alleyway here and there, but this person was persistent. Finally he had had enough.

Sylar entered the next alley saw. With the super speed he had stolen, he almost instantly was able to go around the building and end up right behind this annoying pest.

"So who might you be?" He wondered whether this person would remain calm, attack him, or just scream. His bet was on the last one. If he was lucky the scream might be accompanied by the little girl running away. That would probably make his day.

Instinct demanded she jump. Bolt. Leap up and out of danger. But she knew the voice, knew it from the journal. She knew the guy she'd been tailing had suddenly vanished. Not a hard connection to make, and not so surprising when you've fought a guy that can rip open a tank using just two hands. So she took it cool, played it smooth.

Carrie turned around instead, looked up at the guy. Sized him up fast, gauged what she figured his strength, speed, weight would be. And always expect the unexpected, he have said if he was here, and she'd expect it. Moving around so fast behind her was pretty unexpected anyway, as far as unexpected things went.

"Carrie," she said, simple and flat. And then, similarly, "You're Sylar." She offered no hand to shake. Hands were pocketed, eyes behind their green lenses continued their study.

So she managed to stay calm... well that was boring. It did tell him a lot about her though. She had to know his speed was super human, and yet it didn't shock her at all. She was used to these kinds of things....

"Well Carrie, why don't you tell me why just why you were following me around town today." She was either one of the heroes (a rookie one) who was trying to find out where he was going, or she was a villain wannabe who wished to emulate him.

Neither appealed much to him.

"Please be quick about it and then be on your way." An orb of electricity appeared in one of Sylar's hands and he waved it past, possibly close enough for a few spark to jump out and giver Carrie a little shock. "And for future note: I don't like being followed!"

To emphasize this, Sylar unleashed the orb in a bold of lightning that blew a hole in a nearby wall. Time to see just how much she had been through in her world.

Well, well, well. Lookie here. A leisurely stroll in the park in the dead of night, and who should she spot with her catlike eyes? None other than Sylar, himself.

She watched from a distance as she moved through the park, her pace comfortable, and her mood perhaps much less worried than it should have been. Then again, maybe not. She was her own breed of terrible, or had been at one time. Ce Monde, after all, was a dangerous place. The life of a Sky Pirate was not easy, and it certainly wasn't free of blood. Why allow herself to become terrified over someone who wasn't too different from the person she had been?

With the snap of her fingers, she'd ignited a flame as she continued her walk, humming quietly to herself as she watched the man out of the corner of her eye. Surely, someone like him would notice company, yes?

Notice Sylar had, and he tried to imagine what another person was doing in the park so late at night. He was curious, but it wasn't until he saw the fire that he truly became interested. He wondered if Ba'ast had any real idea of just what he was... If she didn't, then this might very well be the last mistake she ever made. If she did, then she was playing a very dangerous game.

But like he had said to her before, he liked games.

She didn't strike him as someone who frightened easily, so he had no qualms about using super speed to appear right behind her. "Well, well, well. This is a nice surprise." Now he appeared just a few feet in front of her. His gaze fell to the fire in her hand before looking into her cat eyes. "Quite a neat little ability you have there... Magic?"

Sorry for the late reply. :( piratebaast April 15 2010, 04:56:17 UTC
Super speed was hardly an attribute many people on the island possessed, so although it hadn't frightened her, it had caught her off guard and her posture stiffened the slightest amount as he took his place in front of her.

"Well, handsome," Ba'ast began as she waved the flame away, her lips curving into an almost seductive smirk. She could get used to his face. "...Seems I'm not the only one with tricks up my sleeve. You going to give me a show? I can pay."

Ba'ast knew full well that this man was no laughing matter. In fact, according to popular belief, he was quite the threat. Really, though, now, she wasn't about to let a threat scare her. Hell no. It was exciting..

No problem at all crazy4pwr April 16 2010, 05:23:36 UTC
A woman who didn't show fear too much, not a very common trait. What kind of life must she have lead? Well he knew she was a friend of Jan's, but what had ever happened before that made her want to do that? He had spent months with the guy and could understand why so many people hated the guy. Then again, there was a certain charm to him. Besides, he was one of the few people that truly had no problem with what Sylar did. He seemed to be meeting more and more people like that recently.

"You don't know much about me, do you?" He smiled and held out one hand. A stone slowly rose from the ground and settled in his palm. He held it out to her.

"Money isn't really a problem for me." Suddenly the stone changed, it's various properties turning into solid gold. "Good enough trick for you?"

Sylar briefly wondered why he did not kill this woman where she stood... he supposed he just sort of liked her. One of the first women who didn't have a problem with him. Surprisingly that counted for a lot.
