He'd seen somewhere over the journals that Lucy had a job, so like the good nakama and guildmate he was, he thought he'd drop by and say hello. And maybe even give some support? Maybe. As long as she didn't expect him to help clean up after the customers.

Ulterior motive? Nah.

Well, he wouldn't say no to a plate of free food if she offered!

He entered the shop, not bothering to read the sign, and promptly got bombarded by the smell of, well, something. Soup. Yeah, soup. And... noodles.

Oh god it's a goddamn ramen shop. Okay, what he said about saying hello? It could wait. Now way he'd be eating ramen.

She spotted the familiar form (thankfully clothed) by the door and dropped the menu on the table. She let out a sigh and slipped her parchment-pad into her apron, shoving a chair in with her hip.

From the looks of it, he wasn't terribly thrilled to be at the shop. Well, to be honest, neither was she, but, oh well. She could take this and figure out how to get a more acceptable mage-substitute for her stay here later. Rent was first.

She put on a smile, though, waving with her marked hand as she came over. "Hey. Want some soup?" Her tone was half-joking.

Oh no she didn't. Oh no she didn't. She did not just offer him soup. Goddamn, she knew all too well he hated soup and hot noodles of any sort or make. He frowned at her. Deeply.

"Hell no," he grumbled, sticking his hands in his pockets. He was getting quite ready to leave- there was nothing to do here anyway. He'd rather be making more ice than enduring the scent and heat of... noodles.

She gave him a wink at the frown. Of course. It was hot. Why should an ice mage like noodles that were hot? If it was Natsu, he might eat Jan out of his noodles, and her out of her paycheck, but Gray wasn't Natsu (and Lucy was fairly certain he never wanted to know she'd just had this thought) and therefore didn't want hot foods.

"Of course," One hand rested on the loop of keys on her hip, there, just in case. She couldn't summon with them, but it was a reassuring weight. "You could just put a bunch of ice cubes in a bowl until it was cold." She gave him a thoughtful look.

Tim slid into the shop ahead of Bruce, just a totally normal kid out for an easy lunch. (No sign of the wacky vampire yet.) He gave the lady a pacifying smile and a, "I could look at the menu." before sliding into a stool at the barspace. Bruce got the corner seat, natch.

"... Shrimp sounds pretty good, though." he added, keeping up the commentary.

Lucy smiled at the boy, nodding. She flipped to a new page of the parchment-pad that she had fashioned from thread and loose paper. A parchment was dragged out of her apron as well. The waitress gave him a nice smile before looking at the door.

The kid was cute, in his own kid way. "Is there someone else coming, or are you alone?" It was a plain question, simply asking if she should fetch another menu, but there was an undercurrent of worry. Shouldn't a kid have someone to look after him? "I can take your drink order while we wait and you decide."

She gave him a friendly waitress-like smile, but she was still smoldering beneath the surface. She was in this for the money, that was it. This was not mage's work and it ground her nerves, especially since she couldn't even summon Plue of all spirits...

Bruce was, needless to say, frustrated. The Sora case, old as it was, was a difficult one, and though he had the others assisting him, he had the distinct feeling that Hakkai, Kurama, and Galatea were all keeping him out of the loop on certain specific facts concerning the killer. Given their pasts, and what he had seen of them in these past few days... it wasn't hard to guess the two most distinct possibilities: it was either a mutual friend of theirs whom they wanted to deal with independently... or, knowing well his vocal stance against killing, even in the name of justice, they planned to go, find, fight, and kill the murderer without his knowledge. Perhaps they already had and were only continuing the investigation to throw him off. But as he walked into the ramen shop for lunch with "Stevie", he didn't let it show, instead wearing a curious expression, taking in the atmosphere. He had been here once before, though not for ramen-- it had been to deal with Axel ( ... )

Tim rolled his eyes a little, but kept his posture straight so Bruce wouldn't see him doing it. What, did he not look old enough to go get noodles around here?

"Water's good," he chirped, almost saying 'soda' but catching himself. Fizzy drinks, around here? Didn't seem likely. (It was okay to be mocked by Bruce for junk food, but not for subpar awareness of his surroundings.) He glanced over the menu, edging in on the big guy's personal space just a hair. Which was less than usual; Tim knew the case had to be winding him up.

"Seriously, pizza-flavored ramen?" he murmured, just a little amused. "Or hey... octopus." Ew. " 'Spose that's fit for human consumption?"

Not that they'd have stuff fit for nonhuman consumption out there on the menu. Probably. Blood ramen? ... Okay, grossing himself out now. Tim made a yucky face at the general populace, and pondered the merits of just picking the special.

Anju hated crowds, and she hated humid weather, but neither of these things would keep her from making sure her Onee-chan was properly watched and protected.

In her absence, this had regretfully not been the case. Onee-chan worked in some hole-in-the-wall ramen shop with a vulgar, disgusting pig of a man, and more than one person seemed to know about her...unique vampiric nature. No matter. They would be dealt with as soon as she got her powers back, and she would get her powers back, power repression or no. Someone of her ability could not be discouraged by something so pithy as a power block ( ... )

Lucy spotted the small girl -Anju Maaka, she remembered- walk into the door with the parasol and stuffed animal. The girl walked over, giving a small wave with her right hand, the mark of Fairy Tail blatantly showing. "Hello there!" She tucked the piece of parchment-pad into her white apron. "I'm Lucy. If you could follow me...?" She headed off after a quick glace at a diagram on the hostess stand.

"It's a pleasure working with your sister, Maaka-san." She hoped it didn't sound too presumptuous... A quick scan of the journals had told her that the younger sister could be extremely protective.

She gave the young guest a smile over her shoulder before turning around to point at the two-person table. "Is this one okay?"
