Just think positive! Matsuda's mind replayed that over and over again, and really, he had every reason to. L was here and alive, time apparently stopped in his own world, so there was no need for worries there ( ... )

L glanced up when he saw Matsuda heading his way. He felt somewhat glad to see that he came. Maybe, with a little help from Matsuda, he would be able to make a step forward against Light. He needed to come up with a strategy to pull Light out but unfortunatly, they were lacking in the technology they had back in Japan.

He opened his mouth slightly to say something to Matsuda when he tripped. Well... At least it was still Matsuda. L growled softly to himself. When he heard Matsuda refer to him as Ryuzaki, he felt slightly out of place. It had been more than half a year since anyone called him that.

"Hello." He said quietly. "Oh, and, you can call me L here."

Matsuda nodded. "Yes... L." That felt a little strange. He supposed he'd get used to it eventually.

He didn't quite realize he was staring, beyond that of simply making eye contact. But now that he had spoken, Matsuda could definitely confirm that yes, this was L. From that, he could only conclude the other alleged natures of this place were true as well.

Fidgeting slightly, Matsuda wondered if he should sit or stand? Deciding on the former, he took on the bench next to L, keeping his voice low. "What did you need to speak to me about?"

He scooted a little to the side so that Matsuda had room to sit. L stared at his free feet and wiggled his toes. His shoes rested under the seat and his legs remained close to his chest. L had to feel comfortable. He was in an odd situation, sitting next to someone he worked with every day and then hadn't seen for six months...

After a short pause, L turned his head. His black eyes look into Matsuda's. "Well, first, I would like you to tell me what you remember before arriving here.

Another wrench thrown into a well-laid plan. Well, not the best plan Light had ever come up with, but things were working out in his favor until now. L had certainly noticed his message tied in with Misa's death, but the rash of deaths (none of them his responsibility) had overshadowed Misa's own, and pushed any thoughts of Kira from the public eye ( ... )

L let out a sigh. "That's not what I meant. I mean-" But just as L went to continue, L noticed that they had a guest. And it was just the person he wanted to see now... Great...

His black eyes traveled over to Light. He should have guessed that Light would follow them. L had been careful not to say anything of important information but he was also unsure when Light had caught sight of them. "Hello." L said to Light.

Matsuda blinked curiously. But L had just said that there was someone else from their world here? But before he had the chance to ponder that further, a familiar voice caught his attention.

For just a moment, Matsuda forgot the grimness of the conversation, smiling when he saw Light. "Hello, Light-kun!" he called back, waving a hand over his head.

Light had been too far away to determine what L had been saying to Matsuda before, but from the friendly way the other man greeted him, it was safe to assume nothing about Light possibly being Kira had crossed L's lips. Not like the detective would say something so sensitive in public anyway. Or maybe this place had changed him to where he felt more comfortable walking around outside.

"I was really surprised to see you in the journals, Matsuda-san," he said, inspecting the officer once over. "Did L tell you all about this place already?" As if suddenly noticing the tense mood, his smile disappeared. "He told you about Misa, didn't he? About how she-" He raised a hand to the side of his head.
