Renji ambled in, fingers entwined behind his head. Bar Hades, eh? A good name, but then, he expected nothing less of a guy like Katou.

"Yo," he greeted the junkie on the counter with a lopsided smile as he came in. It felt strange coming in here and not going directly to the back door and the basement, but the highs C.C. was giving him seemed to be doing their job. He only felt the slightest pull. "Ya look happy today," Renji said, smirking at the grin on Katou's face.

Will there be a tagging order to this, or is it a free-for-all of employees? :P

You mean on the comments? I'm guessing free-for-all is okay but it's neater with replying back, amirite. I don't really mind |D;

Luke had hoped to be a bit early, the whole make a good impression thing. That and he was getting more than a little restless not having anything to actually do. The light shower of rain had only made certain he didn’t linger around on the streets, wasn’t like he could use the excuse of getting lost with this particular place, anymore.

It wasn’t until Luke got there and his gaze landed on the owner and manager of Hades, but most particularly Renji, that Luke realized he had been somewhat excited. Nervous, even, considering his memories of the last time the two of them were here.

Despite his anxiety, a bright smile was quick to make it on to his lips as soon as he stepped into the bar. “Ah, sorry if I’m too early,” Luke said, sheepishly, after taking one look at what he seemed to be interrupting. Katou... right? He didn't look scary, at least.

{ooc: *lost on how comments are to go, so just sneaks Luke in here* xD; }

Blinking as he looked around from talking to Renji, Katou met the gaze of the rather nervous looking red-head that had just entered the bar. Aah, his first employee. Grinning widely as he fished out a cigarette, lit it and took a quick puff, the druggie hopped off the bar and gave the man a salute.

“Name’s Katou, how’re you doin’? Boss’s fine too though,” he paused for a moment, clenching the cigarette between his lips. “You are?”

( ooc; guess we'll do it like this 8DD )

The cigarette was disconcerting, the puff of smoke drawing up a vast majority of Luke’s distracted attention. Katou managed to capture up most of his attention quickly, with a certain amount of his nervousness gone with the focus off of Renji... the salute, ironically, had helped easy some of the tension.

“Luke fon Fabre, the...uh, bar boy,” he responded with a more confident grin, relaxing. “Nice to meet you, Boss.”

Katou threw the boy who had just introduced himself as Luke another long look. A little nervous, maybe, but he seemed friendly and intelligent enough to handle serving behind a bar. Not to mention that he was obedient. About his confidence, well, they’d have to do something about that. The junkie’s grin widened as he cocked his head.

“Okay, I like him,” he said to Renji over his shoulder, giving Luke a wink to relax him. Turning back to his full attention, Katou asked “You got some experience with bartending, friend?”

Mello crumbled up his now-empty chocolate bar wrapper into a ball and tossed it behind him into the street upon arriving to the bar. He put down his fur-lined hood and with narrowed eyes glared up at the name. Bar Hades. This was the place ( ... )

Renji tore his distracted gaze from Luke - after a full second - to the new guy in the doorway and immediately sized him up. Scarred, stern-looking, and short was his first assessment, and it wasn't the greatest first impression, but Renji hoped he'd be surprised.

He got up off his barstool and stood, leaning on one hip, a street kid's intuition to respond to body language that issued a challenge.

"I'm the manager," he said, in the same voice Mello had used, and gave him a long, piercing look before the serious face cracked. A lopsided grin lit up his face, and he laughed an open laugh. "Now cheer the fuck up!"

Kurogane knew the place.

He'd borrowed it oncee from Renji, when the manager had owed him a favour. He knew who was in charge, he know who was paying him, and he knew Katou had said it would pay well. And with Yuuko now a resident of their house, he'd need that money soon to keep the witch as drunk as she liked to be.

He opened the door and stopped right beside Mello, a good eight inches taller than him.

"I'm here for the bouncer job," he said simply, shortly.

Watching amused from where he had lifted himself back up onto his bar-perch, Katou grew a lopsided smile as he watched both bouncers appear almost at exactly the same time, Kurogane definitely the more intimidating of the two. He was taller anyway. The junkie couldn’t really say that there was anything else terrifying about him, seeing as he had spent way too many times teasing him and watching him fight Kira to have fearful respect for him. It was rare that Katou had that for anyone.

“Brilliant, now we got us two bouncers!” he said, flicking away the burned-down cigarette carelessly. He turned to Renji. “What do ya think, eh? Should we let them fight each other for the job or just save the trouble and give ‘em shifts?”

Yuffie was running late. She had intended to be there quite a while ago but had been delayed by everything from a missing boot and losing her journal, which made her decide that when she was less busy she should pick up her room again, to street vendors deciding that they wanted her attention NOW. In short, Yuffie had been experiencing the type of day that made most people want to kick something.

However, when she finally made it, Yuffie was a bit happier to just not have any more delays.

She entered the bar in a much better mood then she had been in leaving her house.

"Hiya"

END-OF-THE-MEETING-TALK THREAD! (I'm such a cheater. XD) rukongai_dog August 20 2008, 08:27:12 UTC
Renji waited until the very last person save Luke had left and was out of sight before making a move. He swallowed.

Walking up beside Luke, hands in his pockets, Renji let out a sigh.

"Glad you stayed, kiddo," he said relatively quietly (for him), and gave the boy a gentle punch in the shoulder.

All worry had been perked just by the sight of Renji’s sigh, but Luke kept it under control. The punch to his shoulder only warranted a soft grin and he only returned the gesture with a slight, lighthearted tug on a red lock.

“Of course I stayed, Renji,” he responded, grin slipping down to just a worried smile but keeping his voice quiet enough to match his manager’s. “What’d you want to talk about?”

"Byakuya came home," he said, not looking Luke in the eye.
