WHO: Yue Katou [limboed] & Sakuya Kira [comedawn] WHAT: Anniversaries are so damn confusing. WHERE: Market Place and later Kira's villa. WHEN: Evening of Day 115, after this.
About an hour later, Katou decided that sitting around hiding was actually pretty damn stupid. Throwing a last handful of rocks into the bay from his perch on the pier, the junkie stumbled upwards and tossed his finished cigarette down along with them. It was time to go home.
He didn’t know if Kira had already made it back - if he hadn’t he would just have to find another place to hang around at - but by the looks of things, it already seemed too late for the pizzeria to still be up and running. And, to be honest, despite expecting to be teased Katou was actually curious about the scholar’s opinion on his present. It wasn’t often that he bought people gifts; last time he had given anything much thought had ended in a disaster (and it had taken him about a year to discover that it had been appreciated nonetheless). But now that he thought about it, what he had left on Kira’s side of the bed was rather failsafe.
It was with a mixture of relief and apprehension that Katou found his boyfriend sitting - very much awake - on the bed. His eyes flickered for a moment to his face, to the night-stand (where he spotted the silver cigarette case that had been his present to him), to the wine and the box of chocolates on the bed and then back to Kira’s face again. He blushed.
“’m back,” he said unnecessarily, trying to seem nonchalant over the situation. After all, it wasn’t like he had done anything extraordinary. Kira had given him a present and he had returned the favour. Yeah. That was it.
Slumping onto the edge of the bed next to the scholar, he raised an eyebrow, hoping the blush was less easy to detect now. His blood-level was a bitch sometimes. “We having a slumber party or something?”
Shrugging more in embarrassment than nonchalance, Katou slumped down onto the bed next to Kira, leaning back on the palms of his hands and feeling awkward. He raised an eyebrow back at the scholar and then - seeing the box of chocolate, flipped open the lid and popped one of them into his mouth. Rikku sure had taste when it came to stealing stuff
( ... )
“Hell yeah,” the junkie smiled in Kira’s direction, dropping his hands to his side and letting himself fall back onto the mattress. Things were good. Real good. Far better than the occasional musings about him and the scholar that he had silently fled to in times when he was alone and no-one could see him blush or shake his head suddenly at the absurdity of it all. In times when he had still had the will to dream.
Those times had returned now and he felt better than ever before. Despite being hell only knew how far from ‘home’, he was truly happy. He was here, Kira was here, they had a place to live and business to keep them alive. Everything was perfect, really.
Sitting upright to receive the glass of red wine Kira handed him carefully, the blond took a sip, scurrying his fingers through the box of chocolates and throwing one at the wannabe scholar before taking one himself. “Don’t think she’ll really succeed with you, eh?” he grinned widely, winking towards Kira.
