Shrugging more in embarrassment than nonchalance, Katou slumped down onto the bed next to Kira, leaning back on the palms of his hands and feeling awkward. He raised an eyebrow back at the scholar and then - seeing the box of chocolate, flipped open the lid and popped one of them into his mouth. Rikku sure had taste when it came to stealing stuff.

“So this’s how anniversaries are like, huh?” Not that he had too much experience with them. The couple of girlfriends he had had when he was still alive had mostly never lasted more than a few months at best and at that time he probably would have snorted at the idea of a two-month anniversary had someone suggested it. Not that anyone had ever been as serious about a relationship with him to do so. Not really.

The anniversaries his parents celebrated mostly ended in fights, if they had decided to spend the day at home. Mostly they left on some fancy weekend alone somewhere in an expensive hotel and came home trying to act as though they’d had a good time. When he had gotten older, Katou was sure they just went somewhere to argue in peace. Tch.

Shaking his head free of the residue of evil memories, the junkie gave a light sigh and reached out for another piece of chocolate. He had no experience in the matter but, in his opinion, this was definitely how anniversaries were supposed to be.
