It had been very kind of the neighbors to vacate their houses at his request, Sebastian thought to himself as he went about hammering into place the last of bridge’s planks. After briefly checking the plank’s steadiness and orientation, he sighed, stood up, and looked out over the project that had cost him a good two and half days of work.Ah, the project Master Kuja had assigned him. A section of the garden was to be remade in a Japanese style, as a certain guest from Japan was to visit and the Master wanted the man to be as comfortable as possible. Sebastian was tempted to go for a minimalist look in the beginning, and simply redesign the East-side gardens as a zen-style rock garden, but feeling generous and creative after the neighbors had granted him use of new space, had ultimately decided to try for a more difficult and traditional style he’d seen in paintings of the Kyoto Imperial Palace. It’d been somewhat of a challenge, due to the lack of a close source of water and quality building materials, but he’d managed. Besides, he

"Oh my..." Kuja surveyed the garden below. "Oh he's outdone himself this time."
The two and a half days Sebastian had spent on the glorious garden, Kuja had spent dyeing fabrics and handpainting them for the tailors. He had also painstakingly constructed a paper parasol and painted it with purple flowers and birds. It was that, that he grabbed as he rushed downstairs and outside

Souji had taken to being rather secretive of late. Not because he particularly enjoyed it, quite the opposite infact, but that it was easier than facing that worried look Aoshi would get. Besides, this was more of a personal matter; otherwise Aoshi would have been more than welcome to accompany him

We even have little fish in there... He had been admiring the water from where he stood atop the bridge, when he heard his name called. Carefully he walked to the front of the house, unaccustomed to the geta sandals and how they affected his walking.
"Okita Souji?" Kuja asked hesitantly, sounding out each syllable since the language and its nuances were foreign to his speech. "Oh, darling come here come here." He ushered the man to walk down the main path, immediately shielding him with his parasol.
"Your skin is too pale like mine, to stand this sun." They were almost shoulder to shoulder to share the shade, and Kuja could not help but shiver. His mild xenophobia prevented physical contact most of the time, and the close proximity uneased him.
Still, the man's beautiful clothing distracted Kuja well enough. "Did you make this? It's gorgeous." He sighed, carefully touching the sleeve. "And such a brilliant shade of purple too. We match." The Genome laughed, seeming more the child he was inside than the cynical adult he often

Souji couldn't stop admiring the garden, it was incredible! Had this always been here? Then again, Kuju most certainly hadn't worn a kimono or geta the last time they met, and judging from the unsteady walk he hadn't worn them before either. So, what was all this

Ah, the reaction he had waited for. The light in Souji's eyes and the elated smile on his lips. It made the Genome giggle to himself, as he made a note to thank Sebastian after all this was over.
He blinked at the young man's words, and the way he seemed to avoid looking at him. Kuja stepped in front of him, still shading him with the parasol, and faced Souji. "Darling, I cannot remember what happened last time. For me there is no last time." A wry smirk. "So how about we call it even and just start over?"
"My name is Kuja. This is my Estate, and you are currently in the Japanese section so you can feel at home while we have tea and chat.
It was pretty hard to avoid someone's gaze once there were right infront of you under the same parasol. Souji reflected briefly upon their last meeting, indeed, it was something he would prefer to forget as well.
Souji inclined his head in a polite bow, "It's nice to meet you." Hajimemashite.
