The research he had conducted beforehand had been purely for aesthetic purposes. This was going to be fun even before Okita Souji came to visit. Meeting Sakamoto Ryouma had sparked an interest in the Genome to pursue learning more about this 'Japan' place. For one thing, they had beautiful clothes. And he had deemed them beautiful enough to warrant owning some.
So for this visit, nothing had escaped Kuja's planning. He had risen early to don the custom purple and black 'kimono' and elaborate hairdo that was to house the delicate 'kanzashi'. As the day would wear on, the temperature would rise, but for now he kept the fur stole so his shoulders could remain warm.
As for his talented butler, Kuja had an inkling he too would enjoy this challenge. One entire side of the garden, Kuja had told him, had to be remade into a 'Japanese' garden to suit their guest, and the tea and food had to match. Kuja had even ordered the tailors to make Sebastian an outfit too, which he had left in a box before his butler's door last night.
As he sat in front of his vanity and carefully swept blush onto his cheekbones, Kuja felt sorry for the meaningless lives people lived. They scurried about like ants, trying to cram useless activities into every hour of the day. They'd be happier if they could live like him, Kuja decided.
Standing up, he walked to his window and decided to take a peek at how Sebastian was doing.
