(The royal wedding is under discussion on Have I Got News for You. Victoria Coren is the only woman on the panel; Alexander Armstrong is the host.)

Armstrong: Let's have a look at the dress. Victoria, what did you think of the dress?
Coren: Just ask it again, but slightly more patronising ( Read more... )

It may be the oddest thing I've ever watched.

there are times when I remember that we've led very different lives.

I am a surprisingly sheltered person in many ways. During Bitch Slap, a character referred to one of a group of three women as 'cherry pie'. I assumed he was addressing the redhead. Rei had to inform me that that wasn't what 'cherry pie' meant.

There is a whole world of immensely disgusting pornography just waiting for you to discover it.

I have to admit, that episode of HIGNFY was really annoying me with its 'ironic sexism'. I usually love Xander, but there were at least two occasions I wanted to slap him. When Victoria said that, I wanted to have ten thousand of her babies.

I love how she refuses to sit there and laugh along. When others mock royal wedding outfits, Victoria Coren comments on how much effort they must have taken. It is lazy, insulting humour and she's going to take a stand against it and still be funny. I want to marry her.

Yep. It was a little sickening how obviously it became a boys' club, though. What I wouldn't give for moe than the occasional token female. I mean, is there an episode where the only males are Ian and Paul? That would be amazing.

(Can I please have an episode with Shappi as host, Victoria on Ian's team, Miranda on Paul's? That would be stellar. Or, oooh, Lauren Laverne and Josie Long and Holly Walsh?! Any combination of these? How about Andi Osho?)

She's such a great panel show guest! I wish she would appear on them more often.

I didn't even know who Victoria Coren was before today. But I think she's now officially one of my heroes.

Victoria Coren is amazing. She's incredibly clever and witty; she was the first woman to win the main event (or indeed any event) of the European Poker Tour; she used to review porn films for a magazine, and one day she and the friend with whom she reviewed them went 'these are terrible, we could do better' and proceeded to produce their own porn film. I love her.

Victoria Coren sounds awesome! I can see why you love her on that show so much.

we watched an even more remarkable film called Bitch Slap, which contains a scene in which a woman disguised as a nun is caught performing oral sex on another nun in a confessional, then rips off her habit as she walks away to reveal that she is wearing bondage gear underneath. It may be the oddest thing I've ever watched.

That's the strangest thing you've ever watched? I did link you to the car-on-car action clip from Southland Tales, right? (Or am I mistaken, and bondage lesbian nuns is weirder than cars having sex with each other?)
