Yo, Mayfield.

[Lancer's tone was as light and casual as always, and he sounded as if he was in a pretty decent mood. Which contrasted particularly sharply with what he was about to say.]Did you guys know I had a brother? He fought against the country I decided to protect, so I killed him. And y'know...when you're a knight, you have to stick to ( Read more... )

Welp, what's the best way to reply to this...

"Wow, you're a demigod?"

"You did what to your brother and son?"

"Well, at least you killed the bastard."

Nope, none of those. Instead, this is her eloquent reply:] ... O-oh, wow... [Yeah, she's not good at this.]

Sorry. I have no idea why I said any of that.

Erm, it's alright... though that seems to be happening a lot today. People are just blurting stuff out. [April is only at stage 2 right now, but she's gonna quickly escalate.]

... And you're seriously a demigod? That's... pretty amazing.

Yeah, seriously. Cu Chulainn, Hound of Ulster and all that shit.

I never really thought too much of it, honestly.

[None of this information is all that new to Aisling. She knows Lancer' whole story; she remembers a time when everyone back in her homeland did, though many had now seemed to have forgotten it. But hearing all this from Lancer himself makes her feel sad.]

That's a lot of things to go through...

[Sigh.]

I dealt with it. Could have done without half the town finding out, though.

Well, I already knew all of that without you saying it all over the phone.

Hearing it from you instead of someone else telling the story, though...it's different.

Yeah, I think I've figured by now the details are probably all over the place.

[He's familiar with the legend, so this is nothing new. But at the same time it is, because he's hearing the story from the hero himself.

The last bit though, that's new.]

But it made a difference in the end.

Of course it did. I wouldn't be a Servant if everything I'd done didn't matter.

[Hmm] It certainly differs from the ending in the legend.

What--oh, that last part? yeah, you won't find that in the legend anywhere.

Mainly because that part happened in...what, 2004? I think that was the right year.

Anyone you like that's still alive. . . .? Do you need someone dead?

[ look at how she consoles people! she's obviously therapist material! ]

Was any of that supposed to be a big shocker, Lancer? [Bad day for you? Then again when was ever a good day for you... ._. It won't stop her from sounding like she always had, no.]
