Yo, Mayfield.

[Lancer's tone was as light and casual as always, and he sounded as if he was in a pretty decent mood. Which contrasted particularly sharply with what he was about to say.]Did you guys know I had a brother? He fought against the country I decided to protect, so I killed him. And y'know...when you're a knight, you have to stick to ( Read more... )

[None of this information is all that new to Aisling. She knows Lancer' whole story; she remembers a time when everyone back in her homeland did, though many had now seemed to have forgotten it. But hearing all this from Lancer himself makes her feel sad.]

That's a lot of things to go through...

[Sigh.]

I dealt with it. Could have done without half the town finding out, though.

Well, I already knew all of that without you saying it all over the phone.

Hearing it from you instead of someone else telling the story, though...it's different.

Yeah, I think I've figured by now the details are probably all over the place.

But that last part is something I've never heard before. Why did you have to kill yourself?

riastrad_ridire July 14 2011, 01:16:39 UTC
Because I was given a magically binding order by a complete jackass who likes making people miserable.

Hmph. That's the worst kind of person.

Is that because you're a Servant or whatever it's called?

That's putting it lightly.

And that's pretty much the reason for it, yeah.

That doesn't sound like much of a life. Dying and then being brought back when someone wants you to fight, and then you die again...

The dead should stay dead. That's why I hate it here. You die, and then they bring you back so they can kill you as much as they want. It's not right.

[Lancer shrugged, looking casual as ever.]

I didn't mind it that much. Or at all, really. I got a chance to fight again, and if being a Servant is what it takes for that, then I'll be a Servant.

I suppose...I'd hate it, though. I wouldn't get to see my parents very often if I kept coming back to life.

...yeah, that makes sense. But if I wasn't summoned as Lancer, I wouldn't be here and I wouldn't have gotten to see Connla again.

So I'm grateful for it, even if being a Servant kind of sucks sometimes.

I met Connla on the phone a little while ago. He couldn't tell me his name, but I knew who he was.

Even if you fight with him, look after him, alright? Family is important.

I had every intention of doing that. Even if he wants to fight me, he's still the only family I have now. And that means a lot to me. I screwed up once, I don't plan on doing it again.

Mm. That's good.

...I think of you as family sometimes, you know. Even if you aren't really. Though maybe that's because I still miss my real father.

...I never really thought about it, but I guess I think of you the same way. You do remind me of home, and I never really had any kids other than Connla.

I'm pretty sure what I'm trying to say is that I'm at least glad we're stuck in the same house.
