No spoilers, but the Jamie/Cersei scene was entirely different in the books. I'm pissed as hell.

I just noticed that I typed "the poisoning of Jaime" rather than Joffrey in the 'Granny Tyrell' section. Freudian typo ( ... )

and that horrible classic "sure she was saying no, but she didn't mean it and actually wanted it!"

From what I read about an interview with the director, that was what the scene is supposed to be showing. Poor dear doesn`t seem to know what consentual/rough/dubcon sex would look like so he probably didn`t know how to shoot it. *sarcasm*

I wonder if they did other takes and the actors are flabbergasted as well by the editing. I mean someone involved in the making of this scene - camera operator, key grip, craft services maybe? - should have gotten a clue and be like "hey, if she is supposed to be into it, the scene should turn around now".

No idea if it speaks to me just not connection emotionally too much with the show because my thoughts during that scene were mainly "yeesh, you just got rid of the incest monster spawn, way to risk another", followed by "if Cersei grabs the cloth any harder, dead Joffrey will tumble down on top of them."

Yeah. Read that quote by the director, too. It really does not bode well for how this will be handled in future eps. My guess: It will simply not play a role to the characterization and redemption arc of Jaime. Nothing significant happened, right? Right.

And if Cersei ever brings it up again she will be portrayed as being her usual bitchy bitch self, hounding Jaime and being totally irrational again.

"if Cersei grabs the cloth any harder, dead Joffrey will tumble down on top of them."

You know, that was probably the best way to view the scene. ;-) But I would have loved it if that had happened - imagine how much the ep would have been improved by Jaime starting his thing, Cersei grabbing the cloth, and dead Joffrey joining the two of them on the ground.

Hey, necrophiliac incest would have been a better addition to this relationship than rape, in my personal opinion.

(I actually forgot about Joffrey's body completely because it didn't even signify to me anymore just where and when this was happening.)

The bad were really bad and I am not pleased. That is not how I veiw their relationship or something I believe Jamie would do. And not how I read what happened in the book either. And I had really grown to like him, I still have book-Jamie, but show-Jamie will stay runined I believe, unless I'm able to erease that from my headcanon.

My favorite moments where the ending with Dany being her wonderful self :)

No, it absolutely didn't fit my previous image of Jaime either. He was just growing to be an interesting and likable character, and I was looking forward to what he would do next... and now this. After this, the character is pretty much ruined for me, too.

The truly unpleasant thing about this scene is that I'm not sure the viewer was meant to lose all sympathy for Jaime.

That scene didn't make any sense to me at all. Why would he suddenly rape her? That doesn't fit the relationship they have shown so far. Where does that rape come from? WHAT WHERE THEY THINKING?!? Is raping your (not so secret) lover supposed to be romantic? WTF?

Same here, that rape came entirely out of left field for me, and IMO doesn't work at all with Jaime's character or the redemption plot he's been embarked on for several seasons now ( ... )
