ha! no, I wish they were related. That would make for a much better story.
Arrested for civil disobedience back when I thought I could change the world... it was more of a wrong place/wrong time thing, but c'est la vie.
Blew up the car as part of a film I was working on. There is something SO fulfilling in strapping explosives to metal and watching it explode. ;)
I also sort of blew up an old Oldsmobile Calais by not changing the oil ever and throwing a rod through the camshaft, but that was more of a 'pop' rather than a BOOM!!!!!.
My hometown is where they were produced: The Auburns, Cords and Duesenbergs were all made at the Auburn Automobile Company right around the corner from my grandma's house. My grandpa worked there for awhile. There's a wonderful museum... if you ever get up this way, I highly recommend you visit.
They have a parade and the world's largest collector car auction there every Labor Day... I got to drive one of the cars in the parade that was carrying Gordon Buehrig's daughter. God, I love that car. :)
went out drinking with andrew bird and crew? my goodness. well, i can say at least that i stood next to him in the crowd and recognized him before jason molina decided to announce his surprise. but hanging out? waaayyy cooler.
my friend Suzanne is director of marketing for Buskirk-Chumley Theater in Bloomington. She organized the show back in (I think?) February, and she invited everyone out for drinks after, not thinking they'd actually come out. We were sitting at the Irish Lion and in everyone came... we closed down the bar with them. It was so surreal. Andrew Bird is the nicest guy, but he is SO. QUIET. Martin Dosh might be the most gentlemanly musician I've ever met-- or perhaps all my musician friends are just assholes. :)
see above, JonJon. I was the happy lil' activist girl for awhile, and just got caught up in stupidity. "Hi, Dad? This is Kelly. You'll never guess where I am..."
NYC, 2001. Living with my bf of three years, decided that we were going to get married, made plans, took off work and everything. We were going to go to the justice of the peace in Kings County. For lots of reasons, love not being one of them. Thankfully I couldn't go through with it.
