Yuletide this year gave me the greatest gift one can get without signing up or having a story written for your pet little-known fandom, ;). One person actually requested my favourite comic ever! Man, what is with that radiation? Peter Parker gets super-powers, and MJ gets cancer? I thought the whole concept of Spider-Man's origin required that we forget that radiation is more likely to harm you than to enhance your perceptions & abilities. Re: "comics = creator's fantasy"
I'm on board with the idea that one's fantasy does not necessarily reflect one's feelings or beliefs. However, if you as a comics creator want to write your unexamined fantasy, then you're going to have to stop pretending that your writing is realistic or progressive, and you're going to have to suck it up when people refuse to call it art.
