We all remember that when Remus stuffed gum up Peeves's nose, he effectively disarmed the annoying twit of a poltergeist. Now I'll try to disarm some Pet Peeves myself by asking all peeved folks to work with their dislikes and turn 'em into something wonderful

I realize this fic doesn't focus exclusively on any of my peeves, was not written in response to this challenge though the impulse behind it was similar, and was my first HP fic so has numerous flaws of its own in general, but perhaps it will do to get the ball rolling on your challenge?

Oh... very interesting theory. Someone more talented at angst and internal monologue than me could probably do an amazing fic from that idea with no dialogue or real description of the action, just a close look at the dual/dueling thoughts going through Remus' mind in, say, a five minute window when the wolf and the man are fighting for dominance.
Oh yeah, add me to the list seeking permission to friend you.

I'm sure I've seen this somewhere ... but as part of a larger story, not as a single, short piece focusing on this battle itself. Love the idea of the latter! So deliciously scary.

Goodness, yes, you don't need to ask; I'd be honored. I'm fairly new to having my own journal, so I didn't even realize it was proper to ask for permission. Oh dear, is this de rigeur? 'Cause I've been merrily friending people on my own!

The most obvious example I can think of (hopefully you haven't rec'd this before as this is the first time I've ended up here, and I hope you don't mind me butting in) is a WIP called:A Star Danced by bratanimusIt's an original take on how Remus and Tonks met - in a Dublin club; the characters both jump off the screen at you, it's witty, warm and utterly enthralling, and Remus gets corned by a drag queen in chapter one, which should be worth a read by anyone's standards. And there are scars. I think there are, anyway, because I really don't notice ( ... )

I did love the Judy Garland drag queen moment in A Star Danced, especially the line: "People come and go so quickly here." Funny and sly reference!

I think you're the only one who caught it. :D

It's hugely imaginative, and one of the best written, most original and involving fics I've ever read. I really can't reccommend it highly enough - and I think it's a must for all Remus fans, whether they're normally a Lily/Remus fan or not.

That's another reason I wanted to point up the accidental morphing in A Star Danced, so that he and Tonks would have that in common (i.e., a secret written on their faces) and so that he could measure her reaction to her "problem" as compared to his own.
May I just say how honored I am to be an example of how pet peeves can be used for good instead of bad? :D LOL
