I thought it was...weird. And odd how quickly they got married and popped out a kid.

I like to think that JKR was just on crack for 95% of the book, and that Remus actually did love Tonks.

He didn't seem to have too much trouble accepting that his friends wanted to turn into animals illegally and run around with him during the full moon, which is something Tonks is most certainly not doing.

And speaking of him never talking about his feelings for Tonks..have we ever heard Bill say anything about Fleur? I have more issues with that relationship than I do Remus and Tonks. I feel like Fleur was like "and I'll have THAT one. *uses crazy veela magic to brainwash Bill. Bill spends the rest of his life in a daze*"

JKR's stash was bad, thus equates the Epilogue. :3

I was /just/ talking to my buddy about Bill/Fleur and we were pondering how that hell that came to be, as well. It is so strange and loveless and mechanical. It seems as though their floating through life together in a haze, simply craving attention and constant companionship many more times than they desire a true and lovely romance.

The 'I love you but I'm not 'in love' with you' line comes to mind.

In a moment of weakness, fresh after the death of a mentor, Remus gives into Tonks. He gives into whatever comfort and companionship is available, and I think he is fond of her to a degree, but her feelings for him are far stronger. That's the impression I got.

R/T shippers can read a possible budding relationship into OotP, but I think that's grasping at straws. Tonks had far more suggestive banter with Moody than that one little bit about her name with Remus. In fanon as well as canon, the pairing seemed born of the old 'grab the left over desireable chars and stick 'em together' impulse.

And in canon I think R/T served as a foil to Bill/Fleur. B/F was evolving since GoF, so it wasn't a rushed war marriage as Molly tried to believe, but R/T was, creating a war orphan and everything.

I adore your take on this. I do believe that all you said is exactly what I have been trying to put into words and proper thoughts.

aljdflasj thank you! ♥

I agree. And to add a little, i so regret reading an unscreened death, without knowing what happened to neither of them minutes before they died. They could've been together, say some words to each other, or someone saved the other and then got killed. Who the heck knows.

I'm really PISSED OFF at JKR for not having a little more of that. And to make it worse, their deaths were just randomly mentioned about their bodies being laid down among others.

His cowardice was a shock.

You're shocked that a man who was too afraid to stand up to his friends and reach out to Harry before he did displayed signs of cowardice? Really.

Though a werewolf, I always thought that he would have talked out all the risks with his partner before he went and got some ass.

I think he did. The "too poor, too dangerous" speech most likely wasn't the only time they talked about it. Remember, Tonks said she didn't care.

My mother and I thought that him distancing himself from his wife and fetus was because, in his mind, it was the right thing to do *because* he loved her. Also, he has a lot of issues, I'd be surprised if he's ever allowed himself to love someone, or been in a long-term, serious relationship before.

My money is on the former, as anyone would be excited for a birth, but, then again, JK might have tried to very, very, very subtly allude to mutual affection when she had them die together.I thought she alluded to his affection towards her in HBP when he was sitting in front of the fire ( ... )

I don't understand your logic in the first paragraph. What are the circumstances that you are speaking of? Stand up to James and Sirius? Or the Order? Or Harry? Is the "reach[ing] out to Harry" his asking to go with them and search? Do explain, I am curious.

I am also mildly confused as to whether or not you are insulting me. Direct quotes are always a tip-off that one is being attacked. x3

I'm referring to Remus's not acting when James and Sirius taunted Snape during "Snape's Worst Memory." Remus was a prefect, yet he let his friends get away with bloody murder. Was it cowardly? You be the judge.

I meant reaching out, as in attempting to form a stronger relationship with Harry after Sirius died. True, Harry could have taken some initiative and started corresponding with Lupin, though I don't know how much good it would have done, Lupin might have thwarted that by saying it was too dangerous while he was off with Greyback's pack.

I am also mildly confused as to whether or not you are insulting me.

No, not at all.

To get back at the matter at hand, I do think Lupin was in love with her. Despite Lupin's (many) personal and self-image issues, this is still JKR's universe, I can't see her marrying off a "good" guy to a woman he merely liked. In fanon, people can write that he didn't love her, or married her out of obligation; in canon, it's clear, IMO, that Lupin loved Tonks.

When did Tonks get pregnant?
It could have been an "Oh, I knocked you up..Guess I gotta marry you" marriage.

'Twas announced a toodle-bit after the Bill/Fleur marriage, if memory serves.

There could have been a larger time lapse between the wedding and Remy's visit, but I am thinking it was, indeed, a wedlock conception.

I'd check, myself, but I'm sort of upset at my book right now and it refuses to apologize. :(

It just all happened so fast..it was weird.
One second he's all "no, too dangerous, sorry" and the suddenly they're like "By the way, we're married now."

Give it a good smack on the binding for me!

Aye. I really couldn't wrap my mind around thier sudden relationship as Remus seemed so distant towards her crush for the longest time.

Certainly disappointing as I was sort of hoping for TonksxMoody. *shot*
