Yesterday I tried out this recipe for gin-and-tonic cake, which a Twitter friend passed on to me. As the name suggests, it contains both gin and tonic, as well as lime and crushed juniper berries. It may sound a bit weird, but the results are fabulous: a deliciously moist citrussy cake that tastes EXACTLY like gin and tonic. It’s almost magical. ( ( Read more... )

Apparently there are quite a few recipes out there for bourbon and Coke cake. Maybe I'll have to try that some other time...

It is seriously moreish and you can DEFINITELY taste the kick of the gin.

The smell of gin has always put me off it rather, but I'd give your cake a try. I could always pass the recipe on to a friend who drinks gin, and bakes...

If it's the smell of gin that puts you off, you probably won't like this cake, because the primary scent is the juniper berries, which is basically the smell of gin!

I would think it'd work, although if the blackberry gin is blackberry-coloured, you'll end up with a purple cake. But that sounds quite cool!
