Chapter 3: The Elusive Man

It was a stupid idea to go to the party after all. He didn’t enjoy it, no matter what he did; it just didn’t seem to make him happy. Maybe he should have just gotten drunk but he didn’t feel like drinking, he doesn’t want to lose himself again like the last time, not knowing what he had done. He didn’t feel like dancing, there was nothing for him to celebrate; the music couldn’t take away the tension in his body. For the first time, he went back home alone after a party. Yunho and Jaejoong commented that he seems to be moping, like a lovesick person. He told himself he wasn’t, he just couldn’t seem to get himself into the mood to party after the week that he had.

It was not a good start to the week, seems like bad luck had been following him since what happened at the party. He had forgotten all about the 5000 words essay he was supposed to hand in on the Ottoman Empire this week, instead he had been focusing all his energies on looking for his mysterious lover. That’s why he was now on his way to look for the only one he knows who can help him at this time, Changmin. He knew the other would be in the library at this time, the one place he wouldn’t be caught dead in, he had a reputation to maintain though it seems his reputation had been crumbling bits by bits after the party.

Yoochun quicken his steps and reached the library in no time. He looked around for the tall figure of his friend, spying him easily, talking to another person. There was sense of déjà vu, a sense of familiarity about the two heads talking together. He didn’t want to disturb the two of them since they seems to be so deep in their conversation so he just stood at one side waiting for Changmin to finish.

He was surprised when the other person turned around and he got a good look at him. The guy was one of the prettiest that he had ever seen not including Jaejoong, none of his features were particularly feminine but when everything comes together, he was gorgeous, just the type he would go for. He looked so pure and innocent, the type that needed protection from the evils of the world and he was the perfect one to do so. Why haven’t he seen this guy around campus before and why hadn’t Changmin introduced the two of them before? It was unbelievable that he had actually not noticed such a gorgeous specimen walking around?

He quickly moved forward, wanting to make the acquaintance of the person who had stopped talking to Changmin and was seen to be making his move to leave. Changmin must have finally noticed something because he turned around and looked straight at Yoochun, his eyes widening in surprise and disbelief?

“Yoochun, what are you doing here?” Changmin asked in surprise, trying to control his voice to not let his anxiety shown. Why did Micky suddenly turn up here? He seldom makes his way into a library unless it was absolutely necessary. He noticed the drooling look Yoochun had on his face and remembered Junsu. He turned around to see the other had already moved off quickly. He heaved a sigh of relief before turning back to meet Yoochun’s questioning eyes.

“Who’s that guy? He’s gorgeous. Why haven’t I seen him before?” Yoochun said in greeting, all thoughts of his homework seemingly to fly out of the window at the moment, thoughts of the other man was already occupying the vacated space in his mind.

“He likes to keep a low profile and he don’t move around in the same circles as you so it ‘s not a big surprise that you have not seen him before. Micky, he’s not your type.” Changmin replied, hoping to dissuade Yoochun from asking any more questions about Junsu.

“What do you mean he’s not my type? He most definitely is. Can you introduce him to me?” Yoochun asked hopefully, his mind still captured by the vision he saw.

“NO. Let me rephrased that. You are not his type.” Changmin said bluntly and straight to the point. He was not going to introduce the little innocent lamb to the big bad wolf.

“Why? Are you interested in him too? What’s his name?” Yoochun asked, not at all deterred by Changmin’s response. He was not a player for nothing and he won’t give up that easily.

“No. He’s a good friend and I don’t want to see him hurt because of you. I’m not going to tell you his name.” Changmin said. He looked at Yoochun who was not at all intimidated by him. He sighed, this was really getting more complicated. He could see Yoochun is already daydreaming about Junsu, he really didn’t want to be the one to burst his bubble but he had to do what he had to do.

“Yoochun, I’m warning you, don’t mess around with him.” Changmin warned; it was for the guy’s own good. He could tell Yoochun was not happy with what he said and the guy was not going to do what he said. He only hoped that Yoochun would not be hurt too much.

“So what do you want? I assume you came here to look for me about something?” Changmin asked his friend, changing the subject.

“Yes. I nearly forgot. I need some help with an essay about the Ottoman Empire.” Yoochun quickly said before he forgets about it again.

“Ck. Come with you, I’ll recommend you some books and I will pass you some of my notes.” Changmin said, walking to the shelves where the books are placed as Yoochun followed behind him, whistling a happy tune under his breath. Changmin looked back at him and sighed. When will the guy ever learn? Maybe, never.

The next few days, Yoochun did not think too much about the guy that he saw with Changmin, spending his time writing his essay since he really needed the credits from this course. After cooping himself up for three days, he finally had his homework done and now he finally has the time and energy to focus on something more interesting.

At the cafeteria

“Hey, Casanova, finally decided to join us?” Yunho asked as he spotted Yoochun walking in their direction. Yoochun placed his food on the table and sat down besides his friends. He missed them too.

“I just spent the last three days on my essay. My brain cells are all dead. I’m so tired.” Yoochun moaned in agony, trying to be dramatic.

“Well, you don’t have much to begin with anyway. You wouldn’t be doing that if you didn’t leave it to the last minute.” Changmin said.

“I have other more important things on my mind than learning about the Ottoman Empire.” Yoochun replied indignantly, pouting at Changmin.

“Yeah, like looking for a mysterious lover.” Yunho teased.

“Changmin, you haven’t told me his name.” Yoochun whined, pleading with the younger boy, his attention now on the guy that he had met.

“I thought I already told you. Don’t bother, I won’t tell you.” Changmin said bluntly, ignoring all attempts by Yoochun to make him tell him about Junsu’s name.

“What’s the matter?” Yunho asked, curious about what happen between the two of them.

“I met this really cute guy that Changmin knows but he won’t introduce him to me.” Yoochun pouted again, trying to win some sympathy from his friends.

“You know, you are really incorrigible.” Jaejoong sighed and said, one minute all he could talk about was his mysterious lover and now he got another new target in just a few days. He thought Yoochun had changed, but obviously it’s true what they said, a leopard really can’t change its spots.

“Well, you should see him. He’s really gorgeous.” Yoochun said in defense when he saw the look Jaejoong was giving him. Jaejoong rolled his eyes at that.

“And obviously smart to know to keep away from you.” Yunho teased again.

“He just doesn’t know me yet.” Yoochun said confidently, he believed that if he had a chance to talk to the boy, he would fall for his charms too.

“Well, if you are not going to help me then I will just have to do it by myself.” Yoochun said to Changmin, not believing that he can’t find out the man’s name without his help.

“Fine. You can try but don’t said I didn’t warn you.” Changmin said. He said a little prayer for Yoochun in his heart.

The next few days, Yoochun tried to find out more about the boy that he saw but it was difficult since he didn’t know his name or anything about him. The only thing he could do was to stalk out the place where he saw him and that was the library. This was the last place he wanted to be in but he had no choice because he didn’t know where else he could find the boy. He knew he was getting a lot of curious stares from many people because it was almost unheard of that the suave and cool Park Yoochun would linger in the library like a bookworm for so many days. His efforts finally paid off after 3 days of stalking the place.

He saw the boy coming in places his stuff down and went among the shelves to get some books. He obviously knew his way around the place because he was back at the table in no time, settling down and reading the books. Yoochun took a moment to stare at him; the pretty face deep in concentration, eyebrows burrowed together at times. He blinked a few times at the pretty picture that he made; to make sure his eyes was not playing a trick on him. How could someone look so pretty just sitting there reading a book? After making sure that it was the same guy, he slowly approached the boy as quietly as possible, hoping that he would not be scared away.

He was just a few steps away from the boy when two persons blocked his path. He looked up and saw two stocky figures and as his gaze travel further up into two hostile faces. He easily sidestepped them but they followed his every move.

“Excuse me.” Yoochun said politely to the two guys but they ignored him, still blocking his way. He was confused as to why the two guys were blocking his way.

“Do you mind?” Yoochun finally said in annoyance after his many attempts at sidestepping them failed. Why is it that there were so many obstacles in trying to meet with the guy.

“What do you want?” Yoochun asked the two guys, looking straight at them.

“We should be the one asking you that?” One of the guys sneered at him. He had on a fiercer look than the other. Yoochun was confused, he had no idea who the two person was and he don’t remember he had ever antagonize them before so why were they picking on him?

“I don’t know what you mean?”

“Stop pretending, do not attempt to get close to him if you know what’s good for you.” The guy said, turning his head to indicate Junsu. Yoochun finally knew what they were talking about.

“What’s it to you whether I get close to him or not? Are you his boyfriend? If you’re not, buzz off.” Yoochun said, not at all intimated by their bigger sizes.

“We’re his bodyguards, just to keep away pests like you from disturbing him.”

“Who are you calling a pest? Do you even know who I am?” Yoochun persisted; he didn’t want the one chance of getting to know the guy smashed by these two. He was so intent on his discussion with the two guys that he had not noticed that Junsu had already noticed the commotion and was looking at them.

“He wouldn’t like a playboy like you, Park Yoochun.” Yoochun was astonished when he heard his names coming from the other’s lips. How did they know?

“Wait, you know who I am?” Yoochun asked.

“Of course, who wouldn’t know?” the two guys snickered, not at all impressed by who he was; instead their eyes were looking at him with contempt. What did he ever do to them?

“Does he know who I am?” Yoochun said, his voice rising a bit since he was excited that the other guy might have heard of him. He tried to peer over the two’s shoulders to look at the other man but the two seemed to have anticipated his movements, blocking his view effectively with a simple shift of their body.

“He doesn’t need to know. Just get lost now and nobody gets hurt.” It was said in a threatening tone.

“Who the hell are you two?”

“Like we said, we’re his bodyguards, KangIn and Shindong at your service.” The two said even giving a little bow. Yoochun was preoccupied by the two figures that he did not noticed that Junsu had packed his things and were leaving the library, his face still expressionless, not at all bothered by the racket they were making. However his departure was immediately noticed by the guys, who quickly turned around to call out to him.

“Master Junsu?” They called out respectfully. So that’s his name, Yoochun thought. It suits him. Junsu paused in his steps, looked at the two guys and waved a hand at them, dismissing them. They bowed and quickly turned back to Yoochun menacingly. Yoochun had a bad feeling about it and he was right. They grabbed hold of him easily and thrown him out of the place before following in the direction of their master.

“Damn. What the heck was that?” Yoochun muttered to himself, cursing his own luck at meeting these two crazy guys, his body ached from hitting the ground in different places. Why do these things keep happening to him recently? Was this what Changmin was trying to warn him about? He should really have a good talk with that guy soon. At least something good came out of all this, he manage to find out the guy’s name.

“Junsu.” Yoochun said, trying out the name on his tongue. He liked it, he liked it very much.
