I am back from vacation! (I had a wonderful time, but I am now sad because I miss my friend. Boo.) I am going to try to catch up on email and LJ today and tomorrow, so there may or may not be a deluge of comments depending on how overwhelmed I feel ( Read more... )

What is Moffat's obsession with little girls suddenly turning up all grown up? It's starting to get pretty creepy.

I thought it was creepy two kids ago. But then I've never read The Time-Travelers Wife and am not as ~sophisticated~ as other viewers. ;)

Oh, and welcome back! I see you managed to elude Bigfoot. ;)

Just pretend there's an apostrophe in that title. ;)

You're right, it was always creepy. I just feel now like after it shows up so many times it crosses from randomly creepy to feeling like you know more about Moffat's personal kinks than I'd ever want to know. ::twitch::

No Bigfoot! I even went camping and I wasn't even eaten by a bear.

It's pretty much been disproven now that Amy was ever in love with the doctor so the two generations thing is less creepy than it seems.

Still it is kind of weird to date your best friend's daughter 0_o I'm reserving judgement on this one. I really didn't want her to turn out to be the baby. I thought he'd meet her when she was young woman, a teenager possibly, at a push. Yeah I'm waiting for the second half of the series because at the moment this seems squicky.

I haven't watched any of it, but I keep hearing about suggestive Eleven/Amy bits still being written into episodes, like the "fell from the sky" bit? Even if that's misdirection, it's still kind of ...ugh.

I was also hoping for a more exciting/shocking/interesting revelation. The whole "little girls who grow up and try to bang the Doctor" plot is getting really, realllllly old.

Mostly I feel bad for River. :P

Excuse me but WTF!?!

SO glad I have not touched season 5-6 with a ten foot pole. Just UGH!

*filled with Moffat hate*

It WAS creepy in Time Traveler's Wife and is STILL creepy!

In plain old real life that's bordering on pedophilia.

Just YUCK!

It happens there too? o_O I've never read it and now I'm convinced that's how it should stay. Eww.

Right there with you. I feel like reading people's reactions to it on their blogs is more entertainment than I'd get from actually watching it.

No wait, if the Doctor actually knew River from when she was a very young child, and like, trained her and taught her how to fly the TARDIS and stuff because he knew she was gonna grow up to be his girlfriend/wife...OMFG THAT IS CREEPINESS OFF THE FUCKING CHARTS. EW. EW. EWWWWWW.Yup, this. I was reading through spoilers last night, completely unaware that this episode was the mid-season break (I hate that about as much as this, btw, if only for the DVD sales) and I was both hurt by all of the people going "OMG, this was so fucking obvious!!!!" and the actual spoiler/what it meant for River/Doctor. Just..ew! Not ok, Moffat, not ok! You've got some seriously screwed up views and if anyone, ever, compares Moffat's Who to Classic Who again I will throw something. No, wait, I'll let Tegan do some "oh-no-you-didn't" eye glare, Nyssa take up a blaster of some kind, and Five facepalm (sorry, still in my Five run. Got to non-stewardess Tegan though! Love the hair! :D ( ... )

I can't think of a plot point that would make it less creepy at this point, but if such a plot point exists I hope they use it!

I also feel like massive spoilers like this are supposed to make people go all "Of course!" or "It's all starting to make sense!" or "That blows my mind!" but hearing this just made me go. "Huh, that's mildly ridiculous and kind of gross." (And you know he has more plot twists lurking in there. It's not enough that she is someone's long lost daughter, someone else's future lover and has special powers? I feel like each subsequent "twist" makes it more boring instead of more exciting)

Also, it would have been kind of cool if River had secretly been a.) the Doctor b.) the Master c.) Jack d.) the TARDIS e.)secretly a bad guy f.) totally misdirecting them, etc. I'd say I feel cheated, but I wasn't really expecting too much.

Classic Who wins by 1000% for sure!
