weekend and last week's tv recap

Oct 17, 2006 00:26

I went in a bookstore today. That only ever ends in me spending obscene anounts if money that I don't have. I now have a copy of the complete works of Edgar Allan Poe, since I had misplaced mine and it was making me sad. Of course, my old copy has all my notes from my 19th century American fiction class in it, so I still wish I'd found that one ( Read more... )

Haha, we could never be allowed in a bookstore together. We might just buy the whole thing if we went unchecked!

And yeah, Veronica and Logan are so headed for another breakup. I can't believe how little attention they are giving their relationship after the whole "epic love" thing.

Bookstores are the most dangerous type of stores for me, really. Video stores are no good either, but book stores are worse.

re: V/L - I know. I was alwaysw a little 0.o. about the "epic" thing, but we're never really allowed to see development of their relationship, and we haven't been since the first season. It sucks. Also, on an unrelated note, WHERE IS WEEVIL? :(

Yeah I wasn't too sure about epic, though thats the kinds of exaggerations drunk people make. But you can't have Logan say that their relationship was epic and have V sorta agree the next morning and then they eventually get back together just to shrug it off the next season. Its just weird. *shrugs*

I NEED MY WEEVIL! I think thats been one thing that this season has been missing. It's just not the same without him! Weevil, you complete me!

No, I absolutely agree that their relationship shouldn't be shrugged off. I've just always wanted to see more development between them than we have been shown, you know? We didn't even really see them get back together.

We don't even know what happened to Weevil! This better be addressed soon.

Recently read Margaret Atwood's Penelopiad and enjoyed it a lot. Veronica Mars remains a TV staple in our household, too, though Bones became my favorite TV show last year.

I'm looking forward to it. Margaret Atwood is always good; all her books are like prose poetry.

I think the three shows I mentioned above are my favorites these days, though I don't have a favorite like I used to when I was in love with the Buffyverse. I like Bones a lot, and I watch it every week, but I can't seem to get into it fannishly.

Have you read the last volume of the Tamir trilogy? My favorite was the first book.

Veronica Mars:
I also love that the show will let the characters fuck up royally. One of the things I love is that Veronica had the right intentions and drew reasonable conclusions, but still got things so wrong. And people suffered for it. I hope we can see fall out.

My theory is that Veronica's a sekrit scifi geek.

I think we will. They've historically been pretty good about emotional follw-through, and last night's didn't drop the plot line, so I think we're going somewhere with it.

♥ Veronica. Sekrit scifi geek, indeed.

I'm wary of the show prioritizing plot twists over exploring the consequences of actions. Or maybe it's just that I don't agree with what the show considers consequences.

True, and you may be very right on this. I don't overanalyze VM the way I do some other shows, so I would have to think more about how they've handled things in the past. They do love (and prioritize) their plot twists, and can get kind of gleeful about them. We'll see where it goes.
