After chatting with fe2h2o today about the upcoming movie Julia and Julia which is about a woman cooking her way through Julia Child's famous cook book, I came across this interesting article on the rise of the food loving culture.

Amusingly enough, I followed her blog (that the book and movie are based on) from the outset, then bought the book that came out of it.

Haven't bought the sequel, which is also autobiographical and deals with the fallout after her divorce.

I heard about the book on NPR's "The Splendid Table" but have not yet read it. I wonder if the stress of the cooking year led to her divorce?

It could have. I don't know the whole story, but apparently the final straw was an affair she had with a friend. How she got to that point is anyone's guess.
