Methods of Madness
Ok here goes a rough outline of what I propose for my patch of earth.
Some sort of self sufficient farming.
If we are able to purchase the five acres that adjoins our current three and a half acres I will move the horses home. If not I will continue to lease pasture for horses.
In any event my goals:

Fencing
I am going to purchase a fence charger. I have to have a hot fence around my garden to protect it from deer. The chicken coop and run need a low line of hot wire to protect the chickens from predators. A weasel wiped out my flock. And my pig pen needs enlarged, fortified and a low line of hotwire on the inside of the fence to keep pigs in. I'd like ( Read more... ) -
Gardening
One of my favorite hobbies is gardening. I have extensive flower beds, an expanding veggie patch and a baby fruit tree orchard.
I have a lot of good horse poop. And let me tell you, the more poop the better the garden. In an attempt to justify my very expensive horse hobby I have decided to greatly expand my little veggie plot. Last year I had a ten ( Read more... ) -
Fall is almost here!
We actually managed to haul the horses out to a trail ride and BBQ with some pals on Sunday! Had a blast! Now I'm all psyched about trying to trail ride as much as possible before deer season comes in!
Jello is doing good, still pregnant. I'm planning to start riding her lightly this weekend!

I'm back!!!
It's been forever! Super busy as always! Jello cheked in foal, got the baby's heartbeat!!! She's back home with her pals enjoying the grass. It's been way too dry here tho so the grass isn't as good as it was last year! Our filly on the track had an injury and will be coming home soon. Poor dear she never really had a good chance. Jello goes to meet her new sweetie!
Hauled Jello to the stud farm Sunday! I miss her already! But I'm super excited about the soon to be foal!!! Here we are at a pit stop on the way there!

Daily Doings of a Country Girl
Yesterday we made a trip up to Decatur to see Baron the Friesian, Jello's soon to be baby's daddy. He was very friendly and laid back, especially for a breeding stallion! Lovely legs and front end. His hind quarters were fair, but his back...well it is the back of a carriage horse kinda weak looking. Hopefully the foal will inherit Jello's back, ( Read more... )
