Central District [SPLODY PLOT]

Oct 14, 2006 22:20

Unseen- because the unexpected and unobtrusive goes unnoticed so very often, bat-bots from the ruins fluttered out of open windows, traveling here and there, following people into buildings, seeking perches. They took them, then waited.

The front door to the C-Tank jingled softly as it opened.

Wolf-bots lay in wait, still as statues, their ( Read more... )

Isaac was leaving the Emporium as things started.

He hadn't exactly planned for a routine shopping trip to be interrupted by Death Chaos And Destruction, so he did the first and most logical thing that came to mind.

He dove into a nearby alley, stuck close to the wall, and prayed nothing saw him, quietly muttering a few phrases in Czech that were most definitely not fit for polite company (he'd learned more than just physics from Dr. Cervenka).

Without any weapon systems to defend himself, there wasn't much else he could do.

Issac wasn't alone in that alley either. Ash was hunkered down and surpressed a squeak when he had came into the alley to hide.

"Y-you're not gonna hurt me right?" she's completely freaked out, and it shows.

He blinked - he hadn't realized there was already someone hiding there. "No, I - I'm just trying to stay out of it. I don't even have any weapon systems installed."

Normally he was rather irked that he looked like a twelve-year-old - it made it much harder for people to take him seriously. It occured to him now that it could work in his favor here; maybe anything attacking that had enough intelligence to know the difference would assume he wasn't a threat and pass over him.

Then again, looking at how things were going out there, it might just make him a more tempting target.

He really should've just slept in today.

"Weapons system..." Ash bit back a hiss and scooted away from Issac. "Great, a 'bot."

Considering the current situation and her previous dislike of mechanicals, her words can hopefully be forgiven.

"You can stay, I'm waiting for someone."

Issac wasn't the only one who should've slept in today, it seems.

There was one last, unseen player running through Central District, looking for just the right drone. Something big and angry and packing a lot of firepower...

Adam dashed through the unseeing crowd, completely unhindered by the press of people due to the simple expediency of passing through them. He knew Dante as well as Craig did.. and he knew that there were likely bigger and meaner drones stashed away until most of the city's defenders had been called to the area.

He might not be able to do anything besides use the tempermental Master System.. but damned if he'd let the attack go completely unchallenged.

Lying in wait underneath the city were a number of Karumuna- the teams of three stationed in various places, waiting to be unleashed.

For now, Dante paid no attention- pressing his attack on City Hall, trying to get to a few officials with his pack before Craig got them all to safety. He'd managed to kill one or two, others wounded, and smiled. A win was a win.

Adam skidded to a halt when he spotted the Karumuna-- they were perfect, and if he got the leader of the team, he'd be able to command the other two. Plus.. he knew it would piss off Dante. And anything that pissed off Dante was good in his book.

"Bingo."

Adam stepped forward to meet the leader, activating the Master System and merging himself with the robot. It was the only way he could use the system.. it tied his fate to the drone's, but on the other hand it expanded his ability to control the others.

"Now.. let's crash this party!"

Dante's head snapped up as he felt movement through the drone network. Movement he hadn't authorized.

"What- who is overriding my programming?" he snarled. He drew further back into his hiding place, pulling the bots with him into a protective circle. He dove through the minds of another set of Karumuna, then rode into the wave of one of the lesser drones.

Enzan hadn't been as quick as the other ICPU kids at getting to the virus busting. For one, he had been almost late, and rushing down the street when the alarm (and explosions again). For another, he had tripped over a body. He almost stumbled to his feet and kept running before he realized what and who it was.

"Jackson!" One of the ICPU kids. His face was covered with blood, his leg trapped under some debris. He didn't look like he was breathing. Enzan took one look around before crouching beside the boy. He needed to see if he was still alive. "V2, cover for me!"

V2 appeared outside in his armor and stood behind Enzan. He went ahead and let his arm take form of a sword. He only glanced down at the two before looking around.

"Event if he is okay, you can't move that off of him."

Zero made her not-so-graceful entrance flying through the air and slamming into the wall behind them, thrown by an energy blast. "Son of a bitch! Ijuuin, report!" She shook her head, trying to clear it as she struggled back to her feet. Her armor was scorched in several places and she didn't want to know what her biomorphics looked like underneath.

"Right," Enzan muttered under his breath, wiping out his PET. "Cross Fusion!"

In a flash, he was armored and ready to fight. Slotting in a Shotgun chip, he put a good deal of neat little holes in the droids approaching them. Then he knelt quickly to remove the debris.

"I can't see where they're coming from, but I know there's more of them out there!" he replied to Zero. "Jackson's hurt, badly, but he's breathing. I have a Life Aura chip, but it won't cover more than two or three people, much less a building. Any ideas, V2?"

Leviathan had expected today to be boring. She had gone out expecting to just sit around and think. But when the screaming had started, the part of her that still listened to the call of duty had her jumping into the fight, slicing and freezing any mechaniloid that threatened the non-combatants.

When the non-combatants had been evacuated, she jumped into the main fray and took out whatever she could.

Shit, shit, shit! This was not his day. This was not his day at all. Proto didn't want to be a hero. He didn't even want to fight anymore, despite the urge to rip things apart. That's why he worked at a junkyard.

His default armor was still thrashed. Proto recalled his Silent Note bodysuit, less suited for taking hits but slicker in function, and pulled out his twin guns, shooting down a rabid bot that resembled a bunny, which had made a jump for the blue mechanical's head.

"Wanna partner?" he called, firing at two more enemies.

Leviathan had spun around at the sound of the guns firing, but she just went back to slicing at whatever came near her, "Sure!" She didn't bother questioning the help, no matter how suspicious he looked.

She activated her thrusters and took a better vantage point, then started throwing ice crystals at the weak spots on the drones, making sure to watch her "partner"'s back.

Proto's outfit did make him look a bit suspicious, but he was too busy blowing holes in his set of drones.

"You completely assholes," he snarled, kicking the head in of one drone. "I'm retired, dammit. I don't do this shit anymore."

Then he got jumped, his mask ripped from his face in the process.

LC had been browsing around the Emporium as per usual, ProtoMan with him, when he heard the yells of combat outside. The two exchanged glances and ran out to see the fighting--combat threatening civilians. Glad he was wearing his armor, LC took out his sword, then hesitated tand thought better of it.

"Come on," he told ProtoMan. "Let's start getting the civilians somewhere safe. Vanishing Court should work."

The Navi nodded and covered his operator as LC started rushing to the aid of those wounded or helpless.

One of those 'civilians' was not very happy with the situation, and was uncharacteristically swearing to himself as he tried to dig some trapped people out of a store. His strength was super human - but his body was still human. He was bleeding from the forehead, and unaware of it.

"I need some help!" Jon yelled.

Techno had visited the Emporium to pick up supplies. Coda was leading the way, several feet ahead of Techno but hearing the destruction and screaming he hurried back to Techno.

Techno blinked and headed outside and stared for a moment. "Shit."

"Techno! Lgei!"

"No! Get your armor on!" Techno heard someone cry for help and decided that whatever he could do he would do his best. He hurried over to where he heard Jon yell.

LC heard the call and immediately rushed over to help. Having just run out of the Emporium he was less dirty than a lot of the others around. He also had a weapon that wouldn't melt things or cause undue harm.

"Need a hand?" Without waiting for a response he started pulling debris away, ProtoMan jumping in to help with his Navi strength. "You should grab something to throw over that head wound so you don't bleed too much," he added as he pulled at a scrap of metal.

ProtoMan glanced up, not surprised to see more people running over. "Good. The more show up, the faster we can get this cleared."
