On the outlet covers: I would say to keep an eye on him to be sure he doesnt figure out how to remove them, but otherwise just let the fascination run its course. It shouldn't take long for him to get bored with them.
As far as the rest is concerned... you and your family are in my thoughts.
Re the outlets, I'm not worried about ours so much, as I've gotten safety outlets versus the plug in bits. I just don't want him to erroneously think ALL outlets are safe. Yet I don't want to make it into a "Mama pulls Evan away, Evan goes at it from another angle" game either...
And your post is contributing to my conclusion that I'm losing my mind. All I could think was "how is LA eating the baby going to make him gain weight?" I miss my brains.
I really hope Evan gets past this soon. Poor kiddo. Poor Mommy.
Electrical outlets are one of the few things I didn't let just run its course. Even a mild shock can be very harmful to a small child. Fortunately, even I usually can't get the stupid child proof outlet covers off without six tools and an assistant. ;)
The stove and the street were the other two that were in the "curiosity be darned" category.
I hope I didn't make it sound like I'd actually let him play with the outlets! :o) We've gotten actual childproof outlets versus the plugs that just plug up the hole, so it's pretty impossible for him to get shocked with them even if I didn't redirect him, but not all outlets will be that way of course.
I'm doing the sign for "danger" (when I can remember it anyway) and redirecting him. I just don't want to make it into a game, and that's very easy to have happen.
Oh no, I didn't think you would. That was just one of the things that didn't get the normal no reaction. It got the big scary mommy voice and yanked away, outlet cover or no outlet cover.

All things considered if that's my worst complaint, I guess we're awfully lucky. You just intrinsically want more than is probably reasonable when it's your loved ones, kwim?

I'm sorry that you and yours are having a rough go of it, LA. Hopefully things will turn around in short order.

Okay, this is truly frightening. We're not supposed to be sharing the brain anymore, dammit!
