Looking at this panel I'm amused by Megan's recent assertion that she felt she really "nailed" Spike's likeness. (And that's Anya?) But anything would be better than Jeanty's artwork.
But Spike - yeah...Oh good, it's not just me. She's got some details ok - cheekbones. check. broken eyebrow/scar, check. But the NOSE makes him look comical, if anything

Luckily, Willow is a redhead, so at least I have a way to recognize her) With most of the other female charcters (except Faith, who almost always looks like herself) it's a serious problem.
May I ask why you got fed up with it to begin with? Just curious.
I've looked at the preview pages online and i was tempted to order them when they had the sale 99cents and issue for Buffy's birthday; but then I actually start to THINK about what's going on and i have to say "no thanks." This season does have it's charms though - I like that Buffy and Willow are interacting as friends again, and it feels more natural.
I was thinking about that too... Personally I think it's fitting, because Angel has always reminded me more of a dog and Spike of a cat. And obviously it's a case of "anything you can do, I can do better." I mean, cats are clearly superior animals and Spike saved not one but six of them ! (Just kidding; I love dogs too -- just not as much as cats ;-)
Cats can purr, that surely makes them superior! IMO, when it comes to apperances, Angel is a big shaggy dog and Spike is a cat. But character-wise it's the other way around - Angel is a cat and Spike is a hyperactive puppy. Pretty much like it's described

1) it's a "gotcha" (a dream / hallucination / demon, whatnot)
2) there will be some new convoluted explanation that Illyria's death somehow "freed" Fred's soul.
3) The writers are just flat-out ignoring tv show canon, a la ignoring the fact that Willow killed Warren when they brought him back in S8.
In any case, don't ask - you'll only wind up with a headache.
