While I have been known to gripe about these early-morning trips to the airport, in reality, I'm glad to have just one more half-hour with Josh before he's gone for another week. His Tulsa contract should have less than a month to go... I'm hopeful that afterwards he'll have a week or so at home before he's off to other strange and far-off places ( Read more... )

good stuff, coffee

I have been thinking of doing that too. I just don't have time to clean like I want to. Was it expensive?

I don't know about you, but I get stuck in maintenance mode-- where I'm just keeping things up rather than deep-cleaning as often as I'd like. Sometimes it seems like I'll never catch up.

I had them deep-clean my bathrooms and kitchen, and then they just did the normal cleaning in my living room, hall, and entryway. It was $150, which seemed a little much, but it would have been cheaper had I not asked for the extra work in the bathrooms and kitchen.

If you're interested, I'd be happy to pass on this company's info!

Maitenance mode! I use that phrase with E all the time.
Usually, if I get all the current days mess cleaned up plus one or two extra things, such as sheets washed or a drawer cleaned out, I feel like I've accomlished something....of course it all falls apart again ..but it's nice for five minutes or so! LOL. I wish I could hire a house cleaner over here! *jealous!*

There are times when even the current day's mess barely gets taken care of!

It sucks that like 95% of what we spend all of our time doing is neverending: dishes, laundry, dusting, vacuuming, cooking. No wonder I never feel productive...

Didn't you graduate from that Oral University? Oh, wait...

One thing, purchaseable, that would make my life more sane? Matt & Jenny action figures. Beyond that, a new & improved kitchen, and we're working on that one. :)

p.s. I do NOT want the Matt action figure that is wearing tights. Please.

You may not want the action figure wearing tights
but I want pictures! Or at least the story...

Oh, I *dream* of doing that one day!!!
How awesome :)

So yeah, I cleaned before the cleaning people came.

That's something I would do too!

I'm glad that I'm not the only one! I know that *I* can't clean if there's clutter... so how could they?

Honestly, everyone I know that has used a cleaning service
always cleans up and puts things away before they get there.

So yea!
You're NORMAL!
At least I'll pretend with you ;)

Thank you for your vote of normalcy! Even if we *are* just pretending. :)

Technically, I clean before the cleaning people show up too.

I pick up. They clean... I don't expect them to know where things belong, so I put all the crap away, they they do the actual cleaning.

(We have friends who use the same cleaning people, and they learned from experience that if the pile o' clutter is large enough, the cleaning people will just clean around it. =)

Exactly-- I picked up so they *could* clean. ;)

I think Josh's comment was something snarky to the effect of, "So, you're going to stay up late cleaning, so when they show up at 7:30 you can tell them you don't need them, right?" Which was, of course, my EXACT GOAL. :p

Yeah... it takes me maybe an hour to get things put away before they show up, but since that's only every other week, I figure it's time well spent.

On the plus side, it almost forces me to pick up at least once every few weeks. =)

So... what does this sort of thing run? There have been times where I was in a bind and considered purchasing a cleaning service. But I've never actually made the call.

Liquid cinamon roll! EW!

This cost me $150, but was a bit more expensive because I asked them to deep-clean my bathrooms and kitchen. The living room, hall, and entryway just had the regular routine.

EW!?!?!? Them's fightin' words. I could probably live on those lattes and be perfecty happy forever. :)

That's exactly what I'd do. If the bathrooms and kitchen aren't deep cleaned, then the house isn't clean. I'll spend 15 minutes on the living room and 1.5 hours on the kitchen. That's just the way I am.
