The false patriotism that abounds in this country these days nauseates me beyond belief. I can't even begin to put it into words. I could probably rant on it for hours, but I'd be preaching to the choir. :)

Nothing I can say could top that post.

They are doing a "vietnam memorial" today in Branson to "give the boys the welcome they should have gotten back then". I'm divided. I know someone is trying to do the 'right thing' but to me, the ? 20+ years to late is a slap in the face. Maybe I see it wrong. dunno.

That's one thing I've always loved about the Native community. Every powwow opens the same way - Grand entry, flag song..and then Veteran's honor. Any veteran, any active duty service member, any family member of a veteran can enter and be honored, no matter when or where they served, regardless of nationality. We welcomed them home long before it was fashionable to do so.
