O Calamity! I am undone.

After nearly ten years of faithful service, the coffee maker a dear friend gave me as a wedding present has ... has died. It was just last week, and I've only just now gotten enough strength to tell you about it ( Read more... )

Anything by Krups is pretty good. We currently use a Black and Decker spacesaver that is universally panned as a piece of shit for ten different reasons and I agree wholeheartedly with all of them. I just am willing to sacrifice everything on earth for not having an appliance to wipe under.

Krups is very good. Kitchenaid also has a very nice coffeemaker. It pays to go look at the reviews on Amazon.com. It's free just to see if people like their coffee makers or why they suck or why they're great.

I bought this for Craig for his birthday last year:

It's AMAZING. And you can have the little K-Cups shipped to you automatically on a monthly basis. It's really fast and easy. All you do is fill up the tank, stick the little cup in the top, pick the size you want, and let 'er rip.

PS: Craig loves the shit out of that thing, and he's a coffee maniac like you are.

I have no suggestions, however, your pacing and writing style indicate to me that once you get a new coffeemaker, you had damned well better start writing again. Or I will sick Mouse on you.

Wait, er. Are you saying that my pacing and writing style need some work, and so I better get back into the habit, or that you like the pacing and writing style, and so I should write more? Either way, I don't need Mouse sicced on me.

The second option.
And you better get on it. You don't think I would do it?

Why not a French press? All you need for that is hot water and not to drop it.

Oi, how did you ...

... Oh, wait, I guess I probably told the story about how I broke my stupid French press by dropping the carafe. Or I didn't. Who knows. Anyway, when I broke my press, it was a blessing in disguise. I prefer drip coffee for day-to-day swilling. Anyway, if you know of a way to keep French press coffee warm, I'd love to hear it. Sometimes it takes me forever to finish the first cup, and by the time I get to the second, the carafe is cooooold.

Heh, I'm no coffee expert - don't drink the stuff myself. My parents used to use a French press when I was a kid, but then again there were two of them so they probably drank it rather quickly.

I think I've seen a combination French press/Thermos-type thing before, but I could be making that up.
